‘RACERS DAY SUNDAY’ ADDED TO TRENTON INDOOR SCHDULE, FEB. 9; KARTS, QUARTER MIDGETS AND MICRO STOCKS JOIN FEATURED TQS, SLINGSHOTS, AND CHAMP KARTS THAT WILL RACE ON FRI. & SAT., FEB. 7-8, 2014

TRENTON, NJ October 2, 2013 . . . ‘Racers Day Sunday’, featuring Micro Stock cars,
Quarter-Midgets, Go-Karts and Radio-Controlled quarter-scale stock
cars has been added to the previously announced "Battle of Trenton".
The first ever Indoor auto racing extravaganza wil l be presented at
Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J. on Sunday Feb. 9 as part of
a three day weekend of action.
The first two days of racing, on Fri., Feb. 7 and Sat., Feb. 8. will
feature the popular Three Quarter Midget race cars driven by top northeast drivers
both nights.
On Friday night, the TQ-Midgets will be joined by Slingshot racers and
on Saturday will share the spotlight with Champ Karts.
The Sunday races, a first for Len Sammons Motorsports Productions,
will feature hobbyists, both the young and young-at-heart.
On the card will be Micro Stocks which are miniature versions of full
sized Stock Cars.
Quarter Midget cars are driven by the same youngsters who compete
throughout the spring, summer and fall at small, purpose built paved
or dirt tracks. Classes scheduled include Senior Honda, Heavy Honda,
Light and Heavy 160, Light World Formula and Heavy World Formula.
Go-karts will be featured in Stock Animal 375, Stock Flathead 375 and
Senior Champ divisions.
The Trenton races are being promoted by Len Sammons Motorsports
Productions and will follow the 12th annual Indoor race program at
Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. slated for January 24.25.
“The opportunity to promote indoor racing in Trenton is a great fit
for us and by adding a third day of racing, we can showcase racing’s
futures as well,” said Len Sammons whose two sons started their
career in Quarter-Midgets.
The TQ (three quarter) Midget are purpose built racers designed for
maximum speed and maneuverability on small indoor and outdoor speedways.
Most are powered by Suzuki 750cc motorcycle engines and each is a one-
of-a-kind engineering exercise. Though both the cars and the venue are
small compared to outdoor speedways, speeds over 75 MPH have been
registered routinely in the Boardwalk Hall races in recent years.
TQ Midget drivers include ‘regulars’ on outdoor TQ circuits such as
two-time ATQMRA champion Ryan Tidman and stars from other forms of
racing such as 700-time career feature winner Billy Pauch, New England
paved track NASCAR Modified specialist Ted Christopher and Wall
Stadium and New Egypt favorite Jimmy Blewett.
Anthony Sesely, a paved track champion from Matawan, NJ who has raced
this past year on both dirt and asphalt, won the most recent Indoor
TQ race last February in Boardwalk Hall.
The Friday night Slingshot cars are identically built cars with
aluminum roofs and bodies that resemble the popular dirt Modifieds
that race in the area. Slingshots race outdoors on both dirt and
pavement.  Because the cars are so similar, a premium is placed on
individual driving talent, leading to often spectacular results.
The Saturday night co-featured Champ Karts are go-karts with roll
cages that surround the driver for protection. Unlike the Slingshot
class, different chassis and engines are permitted. Drivers come from
a wide range with as many as ten states of residency represented in
recent Boardwalk Hall race events.
Since Sammons’ revived Indoor Auto Racing more than a decade ago,
TQ Midgets have raced in three different arenas.
In 2013, there are four scheduled TQ feature races, two in Atlantic
City’s Boardwalk Hall and two in Trenton’s Sun Bank National Center.
A race that has been conducted for the past severa l years in
Providence, R.I. was, unfortunately, not able to be scheduled this
winter due to arena scheduling issues with ice hockey events.
For more information about Sun Bank National Center’s Indoor Auto
Races, visit www.aarn.com or call 609-888-3618.
Tickets are available online at www.comcasttixcom, by phone at
1-800-298-4200 or at the Sun National Bank Arena box office for Friday
and Saturday events.
Choice reserved front row tickets are priced at $30 for each night and
lower level reserved seats are $25 on both Friday and Saturday.
Adult General admission tickets are $20 each night and children
general admission tickets are just $5.
Tickets for ‘Racers Day Sunday’ will only be available the day of
the event at the pit entrance.
