ANDREW LOCUSON LOCKS UP A STARTING SPOT AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S BILL THOMAS MEMORIAL
Bridgeport, NJ (September 28, 2013) – At Bridgeport Speedway’s Bill Thomas Memorial Qualifier Night, Andrew Locuson locked up a starting spot in the October 26 $1000-to-win race as he won the IPM Pest Management 600cc Micro-Sprint main event. Kyle Spence collected a victory in the 270cc Micro-Sprint feature and a guaranteed starting position in the Bill Thomas Memorial. Robbie Dunn topped the field in the 4-Cylinder Enduro Car feature.
In the 20-lap IPM Pest Management 600cc Micro-Sprint feature, Andrew Locuson passed Bill Thomas in the final circuits to collect his second victory of the year. Luke Walton grabbed the lead at the start and set the pace for the opening three tours. Thomas, who started the contest in seventh place, quickly motored to the front as he grabbed the top running spot on lap 4. With Thomas pulling away from the field by lap 6, a good battle for second took place between Walton and Locuson with Locuson grabbing the position on lap 8. Through a long stretch of green flag racing, Thomas was continuing to set a hot pace and began to encounter slower competitors on the fourteenth circuit. In the midst of lap traffic, Locuson began to reel in Thomas with five laps remaining. On lap 17, Locuson used an inside move to take the lead upon the exit of the corner. Once in front, Locuson survived a restart with three laps to gain the win. With Thomas taking second, Walton’s strong run allowed him to finish in third. Jay Hartman wound up in fourth and Tim Iulg completed the event in fifth. The IPM Pest Management 600cc Micro-Sprint qualifying events were captured by Steve Kemery and Bill Thomas.
Kyle Spence led every step of the way in the 20-lap 270cc Micro-Sprint feature to collect his first career Bridgeport Speedway checkered flag. Spence had Justin Stillwagon in his tracks for a majority of the race but was able to pull away from the second place finishing Stillwagon in the final circuits. Tyler Reinhardt finished in third. Jay Hartman and RJ Magyari completed the top five. Kyle Spence and Justin Stillwagon won the heat races in the 270cc Micro-Sprint division.
In the competitive 20-lap 4-Cylinder Enduro Car feature, Robbie Dunn passed his dad, Scott, with eight laps remaining and led the rest of the way for his first win of the year. Scott Dunn held off Warren Stradley to finish in second place. With Stradley taking third, Cheri LaClaire completed the race in fourth.
