TWO GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY RACERS GAIN NATIONAL NASCAR HONORS


BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 30, 2012 . . . Six time Grandview Speedway NASCAR Late Model champion Chuck Schutz and Brad Brightbill, runner-up in the final NASCAR Sportsman standings have earned NASCAR National honors.
Schutz was able to top the standings in the final NASCAR National Finalist Division II Dirt point chase. The Pottstown racer, wheeling the Pioneer Pole Buildings/ Jesse Baro Trucking No. 1, was able to tab two wins, 14 top fives and 18 top tens during the 2012 season. The NASCAR points in the Finalist chase were tabulated on the top 14 finishes earning Schutz 488 points and allowing him to top Dylan Smith of Greenwood, Nebraska by just five counters.
In the NASCAR National Finalist Division III Dirt standings Brad Brighbill, son of modified racing legend Kenny Brightbill, was able to earn the top spot with his Racerunner Fuels #19 Sportsman. Despite finishing second to Jared Umbenhauer in the track NASCAR Sportsman point battle the Sinking Spring, PA racer tallied three wins, 10 top fives and 18 top tens in his top national point finishing effort. Brightbill had 485 points. Grandview’s Craig Whitmoyer finished second in the national standings with 479 points while Grandview champion Jared Umbenhauer finished third with 473 points.
Schutz and Brightbill will be honored at the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Awards banquet in Charlotte, NC in early December.
The top 100 finishers in each national division will receive certificates from NASCAR.
Schutz, Umbenhauer and NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified champion Duane Howard (he finished 7th in the national championship chase) will all be honored at the Grandview Speedway Awards Banquet on November 17th.
