Open Competition Sprint Cars & Race #2 in AMSOIL
Sportsman Series Highlight Friday Night Racing
The Station House 358 Modifieds, the USS Achey Sportsman,
the Wooden Keg Tavern Roadrunners and Open Competition Sprint Cars will be on
tap for the first Friday night show in May at the Big Diamond Speedway. The
Sportsman drivers will also compete in the second of the five race AMSOIL Oil
series.
After his back-to-back wins, Meme DeSantis has taken an
early season lead in the points. Craig VonDohren won the only other point
bearing feature event while Rick Laubach was the winner of the open competition
race in April. Doug Manmiller has been in the hunt every week behind the
Schaeffer Harley Davidson T102.
Doug Hendricks was the winner of the first AMSOIL Sportsman
Series event and currently finds himself on top of the points. Brad Brightbill
and Craig Whitmoyer have each won one USS Achey Sportsman feature event this
season. Kevin Beach, Jr. has been a challenger in every race while second year
driver, Kaitie McCardle finished second to both Brightbill and Hendricks. The
Sportsman Division has yet to produce a repeat winner.
Jim Kost opened the season with a win in the Wooden Keg
Tavern Roadrunners but it's been all Joey Brennan ever since then. Several
other Roadrunner competitors have shown some muscle early in the season like
Shon Elk, Mark Berzowski and Jon Schlauch.
Friday nights in May will see a lot of racing action as the
Wooden Keg Roadrunners compete in Twin 15 lap feature events as part of the Big
Diamond 40th Anniversary Celebration on May 11th. This in addition to a
complete show of 358 Modifieds and Sportsman. The Opening Day Sportsman feature
will also be presented on Friday night, May 11th.
On Friday night, May 18th, a complete show of Modifieds,
Sportsman and Roadrunners will be joined by the Vintage Car Club in addition to
the Opening Day Roadrunner feature event.
On Friday night, May 25th, Big Diamond will celebrate the
Memorial Day weekend with the sprint cars of URC joining the Modifieds,
Sportsman and Roadrunners for another night of action.
