EASTERN STORM USAC SPRINTS
THERE’S A STORM HEADING THIS WAY. . . .
AMSOIL USAC NATIONAL SPRINT TOUR TO OPEN EASTERN SWING AT
GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY TUESDAY NIGHT, JUNE 5
The USAC Eastern Storm Tour is heading east and opening night
is set for the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, June 5 as the NAPA Auto Parts
Thunder on the Hill Racing Series continues in its twenty-third
season.
If you have never seen wingless sprints, you’ll need to block
out the Eastern Storm opener at the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA.
Some say, the USAC wingless sprints in time trials at Grandview is worth the
price of admission as these nationally known stars use every inch of the track,
and often the outside boiler-plate when they visit this one-third mile oval.
Defending winner, “The Beast” Bobby East will return to defend his win in the
Jesse Hockett 40 lap Classic paying $6,000 to the winner.
Grandview Speedway will open the Eastern Storm Series on
Tuesday night, June 5 followed by stops at the New Egypt Speedway on Thursday
night, June 7, the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, June 8 and close out the
swing at the always fast and exciting Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night,
June 9.
The stars of USAC expected to be part of the Eastern Storm
include Levi Jones, current point leader John Stanbrough, Bryan Clauson, Dave
Darland, Tracy Hines, Justin Grant, Damion Gardner, Kody Swanson, Bud Kaeding,
Casey Shuman and Hunter Schuerenberg, the winner of the 2011 New Egypt USAC
event.
Time trials will open the Tuesday, June 5 NAPA Auto Parts
Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event that will showcase the AMSOIL USAC
Eastern Storm Tour. The USAC wingless sprints will compete in a series of
qualifying events all leading up to the 40 lap Jesse Hockett classic. Also on
the program will be the popular ARDC Midgets also taking part in a series of
qualifying events building up to a 20 lap feature event.
The ARDC roster is expected to include Steve Buckwalter, Nick
Wean, Ryan Smith, Brenden Bright, Steve Drevicki, Shawn Jackson, Trevor
Kobylzar and Eric Heydenreich.
The USAC Easter Storm at Grandview Speedway will get underway
at 7:30 PM with gates opening at 5 PM.
New Egypt Speedway will also present the USAC Wingless
Sprints and Big Block Modifieds in a Twin 30’s program on Thursday night, June
7. The USAC wingless sprints will chase a $6,000 payday as the Modifieds duke
it out for $3,000 to the winner. The previous two USAC Sprint and Big Block
Modified events at New Egypt were definite crowd pleasers and you can expect the
same on Thursday night, June 7. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for
7:30 PM.
