RUPPERT, SMITH, AND SCHWAGER BEGIN 2012 WITH NEETS DIRT TOUR VICTORIES…

April 29, 2012 – Bechtelsville, PA – The North East Enduro Tour Series presented race #1 of the Scott Dunn Auto Service Dirt Tour this past Sunday afternoon at Grandview Speedway. Taking victories in the 4th Annual Spring Fling were: Carl Ruppert (150-lap Big Car Enduro), Brian Smith (150-lap Small Car Enduro), and Jen Schwager (25-lap Ladies Race). Ronnie Peck and Bob Snyder shared victory lane laurels in the twin features for the Blast From the Past Vintage Race Cars.

Smith, the defending tour champion from Washington NJ, started the “Micro Mosh 150” from the 17th position. After fighting to remain on the lead lap during the event’s early stages, Smith remained competitive and worked his way to the front. A tremendous battle ensued within the front five, as several competitors traded positions. During the closing stages, Smith worked past leader Steve Wilson to take possession of the number one spot.

Smith powered to his very first career Grandview Speedway/NEETS victory by a ten second margin over Wilson (Green Lane PA), who originally started 13th. The story of this event revolved around third place finisher Jim Neiman, who powered the Ricky Bender owned #29B to a convincing third place finish. Neiman, who did lead the race for a while, was making his first ever start at Grandview. Veteran racer Kenny Wallace (Woodlyn PA) quietly maneuvered from 19th to fourth. Scott Dunn of Yardville NJ rounded out the front finishing five. A good turnout of 34 cars graced the field in the Small Car race.

Ruppert of Macungie PA was clearly the class of the field in the “Mega Dash 150”. He started from deep in the field, the 35th position, and quickly powered to the front of the pack. On lap 76, Ruppert placed his #36 machine in the first spot and never looked back. The accomplished racer captured his 15th career Grandview victory (13-Late Model, 2-Big Car Enduro) on a lap of his own.

Chris Reichert (Orwigsburg PA) charged from 29th to second just passing Brad Krause (Auburn PA) in the closing stages. Joel Pilgert (Boyertown PA) ran within the top five throughout most of the contest and finished fourth while Bob Wink (Palm PA) charged from 24th to fifth. A strong turnout of 38 cars started the Big Car Enduro.

Schwager (Bechtelsville PA) and Linsey Rummel (Parkerford PA) exchanged the lead on several occasions in the 25-lap Ladies Race. Schwager claimed the victory over Rummel, Deb Angsadt, Sarah Sabol, and Janna Bowlin.
