23RD SEASON OPENER FOR THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING
SERIES TO SHOWCASE 410 SPRINTS & 358 MODIFIEDS AT GRANDVIEW WEDNESDAY, MAY

It’s a powerhouse show anytime you can bring together the 410
Sprints and the popular 358 Modifieds and these two dynamic divisions will share
the opening day event of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series
at the Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night, May 23rd. For the
Thunder Series, a co-promotion between Grandview Speedway Track Owner Bruce
Rogers and Special Events Organizer Bob Miller , opening day will mark the
103rd Thunder Show since the series began in August of 1990.
The 410 Sprints will be on the hill as part of the Keystone
Cup 410 Sprint Series. The best of the PA Posse will battle the always
non-forgiving one-third mile high-banked oval. Fred Rahmer of Salfordsville,
PA is always a threat for the win along with possible entries Greg Hodnett, Chad
Layton, Justin Henderson, Brian Montieth, Logan Schuchart, Mark Smith, Brent
Marks, and Daryn Pittman. Lance Dewease is also an expected entry. Dewease is
a ten time feature winner on the Thunder Series with his last win coming back in
2003. Rahmer is a nine time winner and won his last race at Grandview in 2008
along with Greg Hodnett, a four time winner who last won on the hill in 2003.
No doubt about it, Rahmer, Dewease and Hodnett are looking to find the Grandview
victory lane. Last year, Tyler Walker and Brian Leppo were the winners of the
two 410 sprint show at Grandview. Time trials and qualifying events will lead
up to the $5,000 to win 35 lap feature event.
The 358 Modifieds will compete in a series of qualifying heat
race events, and a consolation all leading up to the 25 lap feature event.
This will be a key event for many “outsiders” to use as a test and tune for the
41st Annual BPG Racing Freedom 76 paying an unheard of $50,000 to
win on Saturday night, September 15. Defending Thunder Series Champion Jeff
Strunk and Car Owner Norm Hansell have signed up to be at all the Thunder Show
of 2012. Always a dominant factor at Grandview is Duane Howard in the Chad
Sinon and he is an expected entry for the Thunder Shows along with Craig
Vondohren, Kyle Weiss, Kevin Hirthler, Wade Hendrickson, MeMe DeSantis, Kyle
Follweiler, Brad Missimer, John Willman and Gary Hager.
The modified feature winner will pocket $2,600 for the win in
the 25 lap main event along with a dinner for two from the Texas Roadhouse
location on Hamilton Blvd (Route 222) in Trexlertown, PA .
Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM on
race night, Wednesday, May 23rd.
If you have never seen the 410 sprints at Grandview, it’s
something you just have to experience. The 410 sprint circle the always well
prepared Grandview oval in 11.5 seconds and when the leaders are in battle,
there is excitement at every turn.
Adult admission prices are $22, children 6-11 are $5 and
children under 6 will be admitted for free.
