SHORT STORY - MIKE KELLNER WINS LATE MODEL FEATURE, RAIN WINS SPORTSMAN
AND 358 MODIFIED FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 21, 2012 . . . Before the rains came wiping out the
Sportsman and NASCAR 358 Modified feature races on Saturday night at Grandview
Speedway Mike Kellner was able to drive his Power Wash/Mary Kay No. 57 to
victory in the 20-lap Late Model feature race. The win for the Lansdale, PA
racer was his first of the season and earned him $1000 which included extra
money added by T.P.Trailers of Limerick and Salvage Transport of Coplay.
The NASCAR 358 Modified feature field was on the track getting ready for the start of their 30 lap feature race when the rains came bringing a halt to all racing including the 25-lap Sportsman feature that would have followed the Modified race. Both rained out events are rescheduled for Saturday, April 28th making for a five feature show.
Chuck Schutz applied some pressure to Kellner in the closing laps but had to settle for second in the Late Model feature followed by Danny Snyder, Sean Merkel and Ron Kline who was trying for his third feature win in a row.
Kline holds on to his number one spot in the championship point battle with 885 points followed by Sean Merkel with 865 and Chuck Schutz, defending champion, with 864.
Coming up on Saturday, April 28th, 7 p.m. is a five feature program of NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars. Modifieds run in two 30 lap features while Late Models run in a single 20-lap feature and Sportsman top their night with two 20 lap features. Adult admission will remain just $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted FREE. A great bargain night of racing action.

MIKE KELLNER WINS LATE MODEL FEATURE, MA NATURE FORCES POSTPONEMENT OF MODIFIED AND SPORTSMAN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW
Five feature program set for Saturday, April 28th
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 22, 2012 . . . Mike Kellner won the 20-lap Late Model feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night and Ma Nature won the other features.
The NASCAR 358 Modified and Sportsman feature races were next on the schedule when Ma Nature decided to bring an end to another exciting evening of stock car racing entertainment. With heavy rain falling at 9 p.m. and the forecast that it would continue promoter Bruce Rogers was forced to pull the plug ending the racing action.
The Modified and Sportsman feature races will be added to the April 28th show making for a five feature program with no increase in admission prices.
The Late Model feature victory almost did not happen for Kellner as his Power Wash/Mary Kay sponsored No. 57 was overheating during the final laps and died on the backstretch during the cool down lap. One more lap of actual racing and the results could have been different.
Kellner ended up being towed to the pits and the victory lane celebration was canceled as officials were trying to beat the rain that was headed to the track and run off the next events quickly.
The Lansdale, PA racer did pick up $1000 for his winning efforts including an extra $100 from T.P.Trailers in Limerick and $100 for Salvage Transport in Coplay, PA.
Five time and defending Late Model champion Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) finished second while Danny Snyder (Green Lane) grabbed third. Sean Merkel (Gilbertsville) came home fourth followed by Ron Kline (Salford) who was seeking his third straight feature win.
With his fifth place finish Kline continues to be the Late Model points leader with 885 counters. Sean Merkel is second with 865 points followed in third by defending champion Chuck Schutz with 864 points.
Wayne Pfeil, Jr., who led the first eight laps before Kellner went to the front of the 21 car starting field, was forced out of competition while holding second spot and still having a shot at winning when a large part was dragging off his car and officials sent him to the pits due to safety concerns.
Kellner earned the Dan’s Deli Halfway Leader Hoagies and dinner for two at Texas Roadhouse Restaurant in Trexlertown, PA. Ron Kline picked up the Salvage Transport Hard Charger Award coming from 16th starting spot to finish 5th. And Kory Fleming earned the Cargo Trailer Sales $50 gift certificate for finishing tenth.
Qualifying heat races for the Late Models, each eight laps, went to Jason Miller and Wayne Pfeil Jr. In the Sportsman division the eight lap qualifiers were won by Mike Loney and Kevin Beach.
The four 12-lap qualifiers for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds were won by Ray Swinehart, Jon Kellner Sr., Eric Biehm and Meme DeSantis. The two 10-lap consolation races went to Craig Von Dohren and Jordan Umbenhauer.
Coming up on Saturday, April 28th is a five feature show featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds in two 30 lap features, Late Models in a 20-lapper and Sportsman in two 20-lap features. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted FREE. Now in place is the new sound system that allows fans, bringing their FM radio, to listen to the public address system announcer on FM 89.9.
Grandview Speedway, a NASCAR sanctioned one-third-mile, banked clay track, is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
