RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

TERRY GRAY FROM BARTLETT, TN ENTERS RISLONE URC SPRINT NATIONALS

CURT MICHAEL NARROWS POINT LEAD AS JJ GRASSO LEADS RISLONE URC POINT CHASE INTO WILLIAMS GROVE FRIDAY NIGHT

He began his racing career in 1974 and since that time, Terry Gray just keeps winning races.

The popular and nationally recognized driver from Bartlett, TN has accumulated three-hundred and fifty feature wins at some ninety-two different speedway's, an accomplishment seen by few. Gray will be making the trip to the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, August 5 to take part in the Rislone URC Sprint Nationals. The event pays $5,000 to win and Gray has never won at the famed Mechanicsburg, PA oval and his list of accomplishments is still missing a URC career win. URC is the nation's oldest traveling sprint car organization, celebrating their sixty-fourth season in 2011. This event is especially important to Terry Gray as his team sponsor, Rislone, is also the sponsor of this high profile 360 sprint car event.

With $5,000 to win on the line, the Williams Grove event is equally important in the Rislone URC point chase for the 2011 Championship. JJ Grasso, URC champion in 2009 currently holds a narrow point advantage over seven time URC Champion Curt Michael. In 2010, Grasso led the point chase most of the way, but race after race, Michael wore down that point lead and took the championship laurels in the season finale at the Weedsport Speedway. In 2011, Grasso and Michael are at it again. Just slightly past the mid-season point, the battle is tight. On different twist in 2011, Boyertown, PA driver and two time feature winner this season, Randy West is also within reach of the title along with fourth place point man Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA. This championship battle is far from over the Rislone Nationals could play a key part in the outcome.

URC regular Kramer Williamson, a former champion and winner at Williams Grove will be in the hunt for the $5,000 Rislone Nationals win along with former Rislone National winner Ed Aikin. Dave Ely of West Lawn, PA is an entry as well. Ely is still another feature winner at the Williams Grove Speedway. Showing a lot of strength this year especially on the big tracks is Robbie Stillwaggon of Burlington, NJ, and he is sure to be in the thick of the chase for the win.

Several expected invaders for the Rislone Nationals is Lance Dewease, planning to drive the potent Scott McClaren #21. The McClaren #21 with Shane Stewart at the wheel won the Jack Gunn Memorial at the Selinsgrove Speedway earlier this year. Mark Smith and his MACH 1 sprinter won a URC race at the Williams Grove Speedway in 2010 so he too could be prime to collect the $5,000 first place prize. Pat Cannon is another previous winner of the Rislone Nationals that should be in the field along with Selinsgrove, PA driver Blane Heimbach.

Pat Cannon won the first Rislone Nationals back in 2006 with victories going to Ed Aikin in 2007, Kenny Adams in 2008, Aaron Ott in 2009 and Daryn Pittman is the defending winner of the Rislone Nationals in 2010.

This event is without a doubt, the richest single night payoff of the season for the URC 360 sprints. Not only are the drivers shooting for the $5,000 winner's share, the 25 lap event will pay $1,000 for tenth and $325 just to take the green flag. Race time is set for 7 PM at the historic Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Special thanks to Rislone for making this event as big as it is. The involvement of Rislone has also offset the need for a pre-entry fee for the competitors. Along with the popular 360 sprints, the 358 sprints are also invited to compete in the 6th Annual Rislone Nationals.

All the details for this event are located on the URC website at www.urcsprints.com. Please go to the Competitors Page and click on 2011 National Sprint Payoff for all the details to include car specifications, tire rule, handicapping and the complete payoff.

The big weekend for the URC sprints continues the following night, Saturday, August 6th, as the Rislone URC Sprint Series will head t. "the big track", Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport, NJ. Without a doubt, Bridgeport Speedway is the biggest and possibly the fastest track on the URC tour. This is super URC weekend of money, speed and media exposure.
