Come One, Come All To Penn Can Speedway Tuesday, June 7 - Rules Package Announced For Historic Penn Can Speedway $8,000 'Clash at the Can' Event
SUSQUEHANNA, PA – Modified racers: come one, come all!

Big- or small-block, gasoline or methanol, sail panels or conventional windows, all are welcome to make history at Penn Can Speedway on Tuesday, June 7 for the second running of the 'Clash at the Can' event at the facility located on the Keystone State side of the Pennsylvania/New York border. The 2011 'Clash at the Can' boasts a theme of "Making history, one dollar at a time" with an $8,000 winner's share for a 60-lap Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour event - a record for Penn Can.
Every position in the starting field has received an increase in pay for this year's event over 2010 thanks to outstanding marketing partners.

The 'Clash at the Can' is a co-promotion of Brett Deyo and Penn Can managers Al Wilcox and Reed Miller. It serves as the first leg of the four-race Short Track Four Crown sponsored by Pioneer Pole Buildings and VP Racing Fuels. Three of the Short Track Four Crown events will be contested at Penn Can; the other is the Short Track SuperNationals at Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, N.Y.

"The 'Clash at the Can' is becoming a must-attend event on the racing calendar for racers and fans," said event co-promoter Deyo. "This is our second year hosting this event at Penn Can and we've been able to increase the total payout by more than 30 percent in a down economy without the added cost to the racers of a gambler's fee or challenge for extra money. The interest so far has been outstanding. We're looking forward to building this into a high profile midweek event fans can enjoy year after year.

"Working with Andrew Harpell from RoC, we put together a rules package that basically says, 'If you have a Modified, you can race it with us!'"

Liberal rules, designed to entice a wide variety of participants from across the Northeast, have been established for the event as follows:

Tire Information (any stamp):Front tire options: American Racer SD 33 or harder
Left-rear options: American Racer SD 33, 38 or 44
Right-rear options: American Racer SD 38, 44, 48 or 50
For tire information, contact Trackside Products (Al Wilcox) at 607.748.3322

General Race Rules: The standard for engine, body, chassis and safety specs are based upon '04 DIRT rules. Sail panels are permitted for this event. Sail panels will be measured from the ground to the highest point and should be no higher than 65 inches.  Sail panels must mirror size and shape side-for-side.

Weight information:Small-Block under 361 c.i., on gas or methanol: 2,400 lbs.
Big-Block or Small-Block over 361 c.i., gasoline only 2,500 lbs.
Small-Blocks running SB2 heads must weigh Big-block weight!

Carburetion:Open competition carburetors allowed – no fuel injection of any type

Heat races will be set by a legitimate draw for position per the BD Motorsports Media 'No BS. No Politics. Real Racing.' theme. There will be no fan-torturing time trials. A redraw of top heat finishers will align the top feature starting spots. Cautions will count in the main event from laps 20-40, with no more than five laps scored at a time.

The 'Clash at the Can' is a racer's dream: a record payout of nearly $22,000, paid heat race winners thanks to Manmiller Electric, a long list of contingency prizes (thanks to sponsors Lias Tire Company, Shiley Fabrication, Subway/Mirabito Travel Center, Pa.'s Selinsgrove Speedway, N.J.'s New Egypt Speedway and BFP Specialty) and no increase in pit admission.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. There is a rain date of Wednesday, June 8 in place.

Pit admission is $30 with ANY track or series license and $35 without. Grandstand admission is $22 (Adults), $20 (Seniors/Students) and $4 (Youth). Fans attending the previous Friday night event at Penn Can will receive $2 off admission if they present their ticket stub.

Complete race information can be found online at www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com.

Last year, the first edition of the 'Clash at the Can' was a study in diversity, with Penn Can regular Brett Tonkin, New York superstar Danny Johnson, Pennsy racer Duane Howard and Canadian Stewart Friesen in the mix. After an extended side-by-side battle with Tonkin, Howard emerged the victor driving the BPG Racing No. 4 Troyer.

Penn Can's layout ensures money, fresh rubber and horsepower don't guarantee success, making the 'Clash at the Can' favorable to low-dollar, weekly teams. Tire wear is non-existent. No conflicts on the dirt Modified calendar will allow the touring series stars and Pennsylvania/New Jersey teams to invade the facility. The makings of an all-star field are in place.

For drivers following the entire 13-race RoC tour, the 'Clash at the Can' holds added significance. The event offers championship points toward the overall crown.

There have been 11 RoC events held at Penn Can since the tour's inception in 2005 with a who's-who of past winners including Stewart Friesen, Howard and Pat Ward in addition to active local stars Joey Grammes, Alan Rudalavage and Brian Weaver.
