Summer Shootout Series Continues at Outback Track on Friday Night;
Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune on August 31
Newberrytown, PA (August 13, 2014) – On Saturday night, August 16, racing continues on the “Big Track” with the popular Camera & Autograph Night. Racing action features the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks Cars, Road Warriors/Mini Vans and the PA Sprint Series. The popular annual Camera & Autograph Night is an event in which all fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars on the frontstretch before the feature events begins. In the past, teams have distributed photo cards, candy, sponsor samples and more in the driver “Meet & Greet.”
The Central PA Bloodmobile will also be on hand from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. accepting blood donations. Everyone who attempts to donate will receive 2 complimentary general admission tickets to SSP and a t-shirt. All donors must have eaten within four hours prior to donating blood. On Saturday, the pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track Prep laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $14.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $12.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
On Friday night, August 15, the seventh race of the Summer Shoot-Out Series will be held at the SSP Outback Track for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars. The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:20 p.m. Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal (Spring/Summer) license. Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee. Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00. Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class regardless of class entry count. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who w ish to compete.
Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00. Ages 2 & under are admitted free.
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune for any type of racecar will be on Wednesday, September 3. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Each session will be 4-6 laps per session depending on car count. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 4/6 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”
Last Saturday night, Dover’s J.R. Rodriguez took the checkers in the 25-lap Late Model feature for his fourth feature victory of the season at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night. Jasen Geesaman of Lebanon visited victory lane after winning his sixth Street Stock 20-lapper of the season. Dan Snyder of York Haven claimed the his first career Xtreme Stock Car 20-lap feature win. Dover’s Tim Osheehan took the checkers in the Road Warrior feature for the first time this season. Gettysburg’s Daryl Kump II won his first career Mini Van feature of the season as Michael Gebhart was the Jr. Road Warrior winner. Richard Wolfe of Stevens took the win in the exciting 20-lap Figure 8 race. Leesport’s Curt Neiman wired the field to win the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car feature event.
Last Sunday night, the 9th Annual Eichelberger’s U-Pull-It Super Show was postponed to August 10 from its originally scheduled July 3 event. Anthony Fiore of Manheim won his second consecutive PA Sprint Series 20-lap feature event on Sunday at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Orefield’s Brett Kressley won the Sportsman Modifieds 20-lapper. Aaron Spahr of Dover won the 600cc Micro Sprint feature as York’s Lucas Montgomery collected the Legends Cars main event. Austin Quick won the pair Sidewinder Sprint Car features. Mt. Airy, Maryland’s Matt Wallace won the Classic Cars night capper.

- Madison House XSC Hard Charger Award – For every regular season Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Madison House will present a Hard Charger Award to the driver that improves the most positions from their starting spot in the feature event. The winner will receive $25.00 compliments of Madison House (York) and be eligible for post-season awards for accumulating the most Hard Charger Awards during the season. To be eligible, the driver must be on the lead lap and finish the race. If two drivers improve the same amount of positions, the tiebreaker will be the driver starting closer to the pole position being awarded the Hard Charger of the race.

Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. - Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent for testing and tuning purposes. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,500.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.
The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.
- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2014 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2014. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
