ACTION PACKED WEEKEND PLANNED AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
It will be an action packed weekend of racing at the Bridgeport Speedway as the racing returns to the quarter mile track on Friday night. The 600cc and 270cc Micro Sprints and 4 & 8 Cylinder Enduro cars will compete on the quarter mile track in qualifying and feature events. The Hilborn Tri-State Race Saver Sprints (TSRS) will return for another Friday night appearance on the 5/8 mile speedway as they compete in qualifying races and a twenty lap feature event on Friday night. That's five divisions of racing! Racing gets underway at 8pm for a night packed with racing to kick-off the start of the weekend.
Andrew Locuson and Luke Thomas have been the big winners in 600cc Micro division but there are plenty of drivers capable of picking up a win on the quarter mile. The 270cc Micros have been dominated by Tyler Reinhardt and Joe Dopke with Dopke sitting as the current point leader. If your last name is Dunn then chances are you've been leading the pack in the 4 Cylinder Enduro cars where Scott Dunn and Justin Dunn have had a monopoly on the win column.
Not so in TSRS Sprint Car action where five different drivers have won in the five Bridgeport events so far this season! Karl Freyer, two time champion, Mike Haggenbottom, Kyle Reinhardt, Dave Brown and just one week ago, Kyle Purks, have all been winners in TSRS events at the Bridgeport Speedway. Who will be next?
Both tracks will see action on Saturday night as well as the Delaware Style Super Trucks return for a second appearance on the Bridgeport quarter mile track. The Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifieds will appear in Twin 20 lap feature events after qualifying is complete. The 811 Dig Safely Crate/Sportsman and Stewart Stainless Outlaw Stocks will race in qualifying races and feature events. The Garden State Vintage Club will also be on hand for this Saturday night on the 5/8 mile track. Racing gets underway at 7pm.
Jimmy Horton and Ryan Watt have spent the most time in Victory Lane so far this season but both Wade Hendrickson and Rick Laubach each have a pair of feature wins to their credit. Richie Pratt, Jr. Sam Martz, Scott Ambruster and David Hunt have each won one feature event but everyone - plus another dozen or more competitors are looking forward to taking the checkered flag first this Saturday night.
Travis Hill leads the Crate/Sportsman with six wins while Marc Hermann and Sean Gunther have each won on two occasions. Steve Searock, Gary Hieber, Jr., Ian Humphreys and Kevin Belmont each have one win a piece.
Ron Frees started out the 2014 season with five wins but Jimmy Avery added his third win of the season last week. Jeramy Doerr has won twice while Terry Griffin, Jack Beaumont, Tom Wills, Jr. and TJ Henry have each collected a single win so far this season.
Saturday night is also Bike Night with Bike Give-aways for some lucky girls and boys in the audience!
Residents from the following areas – Woolwich/Repaupo (08085) and Bridgeport (08014) will be welcomed as guests of the speedway on Saturday night.
If you haven't been to a race at the Bridgeport Speedway this season - what are you waiting for? This would be a good time to make a trip to the home of the Big Block Modifieds on Saturday night!
