NOTES:
*Dale Planck won his first SpeedSTR main at the Action Track USA
on Wednesday, handily beating Kenny Brightbill to the checkered.
*Alex Bright, a winner at Kutztown in his family owned 600
Micro-Sprint in past seasons, captured his first triumph on the new layout and
the first Action Track victory for car owner Rich Glosser.
*Brett Bieber's win in the NAPA Dutch Classic, a National Tour
event for the All Star Slingshots, came in dramatic fashion as his brother,
Travis, appeared to have the race locked up. A broken shock on his No. 114,
coming on a restart with two to go, allowed Mark Sensenig to pass him for the
lead. Racing off turn two, Sensenig suddenly spun and flipped, bringing out a
red flag. That put Travis Bieber back in front for the restart, but he quickly
pulled up to the top of the track (due to the broken shock) and brother Brett
darted by to take the lead and the win. It was Brett Bieber's second victory of
the season at the Action Track USA, and helped him to increase his point lead in
the National Slingshot standings.
*Kutztown's own Jarid Kunkle scored his third win of the season in
the winged 270cc Micro-Sprint division, taking the lead from Andrew Dietrich and
romping to the victory.
*Austin Bishop actually laid his car over on its side during the
270cc feature after tangling with Ross Perchak and Steve Walters. Bishop came
roaring back to finish
second.
*During intermission on Wednesday evening, NAPA representatives
announced an extension of their marketing partnership with the
JeffreyHogueRealtor.com Action Track USA. They expressed their satisfaction with
sponsorship of the All Star Slingshots and the Dutch Classic, and want to
increase their involvement in 2014.
*The complete race results press release will be distributed later
in the day on Thursday, August 1st.
