This coming Friday, June 7th, racing returns to Big Diamond Speedway with what
is sure to be the craziest event of the season. The ZY Pyrotechnics 358
Modifieds and USS Achey Sportsman will be on the card with their normal 25 and
20 lap feature events respectfully, but what everyone will be there to see is
the fan favorite Savage 61 Roadrunners competing in the Crazy 8's - four 8 lap
feature events. Each 8 lap feature for the Roadrunners will be a full, points
paying event. The first feature will be lined up by normal handicapping
procedures. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th feature events will be lined up via an invert
number, drawn by the previous feature winner. The invert will be either 2, 4, 6,
or 8. The point standing are sure to look a lot different once the night is
over. First heat hits the track at 8:15 PM.
Open wheel fans will get
their fix on Sunday, June 30th when the Central PA 410 Sprint Cars make their
annual trek to coal country to compete in the 2013 PA Sprint Speed Week event.
This event will be 30 laps in distance and pays a cool $5,000 to the winner.
Former Modified track champion "Fast" Fred Rahmer is sure to be on hand, along
with "The Edge" Brian Montieth, Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease, "The Black Bandit"
Stevie Smith, and a host of others, all hoping to not only take home the
victory, but earn valuable points towards the 2013 Sprint Speed Week title. The
410 sprint cars will be joined by the Roadrunner division for this event. Time
trials start at 7:30 PM.
Don't forget, the next event on Little Diamond
Speedway will be this Sunday, June 9th. On the card will be the 270cc winged
micro sprints, the 600cc wingless micro sprints, and Slingshots. Each division
will run a full slate of qualifying events and a 20 lap feature. Gates open at
1:00 PM with racing set to begin at 2:00 PM. Grandstand admission is only $8.00
for adults, with kids 12 and under admitted free. Pit participation fee is
$20.00 per person, and car registration is $20.00 per car, per
division.
