CHRISTINE Jr. EXTREMELY PROUD TO WIN LATE MODEL FEATURE AT SSP ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Christine Jr. Extremely Excited to Win Late Model Feature at SSP on Saturday Night

Newberrytown, PA (June 1 2013) – Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. claimed his second Late Model win of the season at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night. Lebanon’s Jasen Geesaman made a last lap pass to win his first Street Stock feature victory. Elliottsburg’s Johnny Palm won the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by York Haven’s Daryl Sipe for his fifth consecutive. Mountville’s Donny Groff claimed the Mini Van feature. Aaron Brommer of Auburn won the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car feature event. Dennis Dorosz of Glen Burnie, Maryland won the 20-lap Figure 8 feature.

Randy Christine Jr. started on the pole position and grabbed the early lead over Chris Knopp. Although Christine Jr. led all 25 laps to claim the feature win, it was not as easy as it sounds. Behind him throughout the entire race, the battle for the second through eighth place was very tight. Billy Wampler challenged Knopp for the runner-up spot numerous times, but could not complete the pass and settled for third behind Knopp at the end. Behind them, there was a lot of swapping of positions with Randy Stoudt eventually finishing fourth as Justin Ehrhart completed the top five. Dan Zechman won the JR’s Paving Hard Charger award for finishing 6th after starting in the 16th position. Christine Jr. and Knopp were the heat race winners.

Jasen Geesaman grabbed the early lead from the front row over Bob Scott Jr. in the Street Stock 20 lapper. On lap four, Gary Potts took away the runner-up spot from Scott and then the lead from Geesaman on the very next circuit. Potts and Geesaman battled side-by-side with Geesaman being credited for leading lap 8 and 9. Potts took the lead back on lap 10. Mike Walls continued to be patient in third, waiting for the top two to make a mistake. That mistake never came as Geesaman took the lead once and for all on the final circuit to claim his first feature in of the season. Potts settled for a solid second over Mike Walls in third. Jaynee Zeigler beat Bob Scott Jr. to the line to finish fourth. Mike Walls and Randy Zechman were heat race victors.

The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event had Johnny Palm take the lead on the start from outside the front row. As the race progressed, Patrick McClane pursued Stine until lap 18 when McClane got into the left rear of Palm’s car going into turn one, causing the tire to begin to lose air. McClane backed off and allowed Palm to straighten up. Palm continued to hold off McClane over the final two laps to take the victory in the non-stop race by a mere foot or two at the line. McClane settled for second with Tim Hahn finishing strong in third. Cameron Benyou and Chad Stine rounded out the top five. Jed Latshaw was the Madison House Hard Charger after starting in the 11th position and finishing in seventh. The heat race winners were Hahn and McClane.

Daryl Sipe took the lead on the first lap from the fifth place starting spot. Ricky Weaver followed in second throughout most of the race but faded towards the end. Dennis Dorosz moved into the runner-up spot on lap 12 and set his sights on Sipe. At the end, Sipe took the win over Dorosz. Curt McDade settled for third with Brian Lefebvre finishing fourth. Ricky Weaver finished fifth. Weaver and Lefebvre were heat race winners.

In the Mini Van feature, Donny Groff took his second consecutive Mini Van victory over Zakari Kitner and John Kitner. Groff was also the heat race victor.

In the PENNMAR Vintage Car 12-lap feature event,A Aaron Brommer wired the field to take the win by leading from start to finish. Vince Gagliardo took the runner-up spot over Scott Rickrode who finished in third. Brian Gagliardo crossed the line in fourth with Larry Felty rounding out the top five. Brommer was the heat race winner.

Dennis Dorosz was victorious in the 20-lap Figure 8 race over Roy Denike and John Drummer.
