RACE CAR SHOW AT PHILLIPSBURG MALL CONTINES THROUGH SATURDAY, MARCH 16
THE STARS OF TOMORROW SHINE BRIGHTLY TUESDAY NIGHT AT SIXTH ANNUAL IRCO DIRT TRACK HEROES CAR SHOW
The Sixth Annual IRCO sponsored Dirt Track Heroes Show in Phillipsburg, New Jersey rolled into the third day of the week long show last evening and the night belonged to the "Stars of Tomorrow" as quarter midget driving stars were showcased and they enjoyed the opportunity to chat about their budding racing careers. After an opening introduction to begin the show with IRCO Vice President Greg Collins, the future stars in racing were given their chance on the mikes with many of them giving their first ever interviews. The budding young stars handled the mikes with ease and some very humorous answers and dialogue continued throughout the show with Announcers Ed and Steve Pados and Bobby Stull coaxing as much information out of the driving stars as possible. The week long show is well represented by the small car divisions of racing and another great crowd of loyal racing fans came out last evening to enjoy seeing the youngsters handling the mikes. The Mall walkways are filled with 121 race cars from all aspects of the motorsports world filled the Mall spaces and the event staff for the show are brimming with confidence as one of the largest opening day crowds ever opened the show Sunday and the Monday and Tuesday shows had nice crowds was on hand to take in the show and see their favorite drivers. Supporting the show last night were drivers from Blue Mountain, Phoenixville, Lehigh Valley, West End, Garden State and Snydersville Raceways on an evening that was co sponsored by Persa Auto Repair and Murante Auto Repair.
The Quarter Midgets are a great way to begin the careers of the budding young drivers and many graduates of Quarter Midget racing have gone on to great racing careers in the sport and many of the drivers interviewed felt they would race the Quarter Midgets until their age requirements expire and then make the transition into one of the many offerings available in racing. Drivers on hand and many giving their first interview ever included Billy Lasko, who captured thirty wins last season and Kevin Holt Jr, who scored 26 wins in 2012. Aidan Svanda, Charlene Benz, James Benz, Hanna Flood, Peyton Arthofer, Avery Arthofer, Mathew Civic, Evan Civic, Amanda Buchel, Adam Buchel, Cody Motto, Randy Stover, Panda Sabo, Robbie Sabo and John Ferry also interviewed and most indicated they had multiple wins during the season. Rich Pursell from Blue Mountain and Brandy Civic from Lehigh Valley were on hand to answer some questions about their respective clubs. Quarter Midget racing can truly be proud of the representation last evening at the show.
Wednesday evening is Hamlin Speedway's Open Wheel Divisions, New Egypt Speedway and Wall Stadium Night at the show with a special tribute to drivers who once raced at the East Windsor Speedway. This evening's show is sponsored by Hamlin Speedway and S&S Speedways Indoor Karts located in Snydersville, Pennsylvania and Vogel Race Design headed up by Jason Vogel.
The IRCO Community Federal Credit Union headlines the sponsorship for this year's edition of the tremendously successful show and with the addition of Smith Fabrications and the Stage One Modifieds, Martocci's Automotive, MMF Chassis, Vogel Race Design, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, Caffe Europa, Reagle Dodge, Persa Auto Repair, Murante Auto Repair, Penn Jersey Super Markets and TownePlace Suites by Marriott signing on as sponsors, the event will run through March 16th with nightly interviews for the local racing community on their given night at the event. The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and will offer a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show. The show continues to be free of charge to the mall traffic and the 2013 edition of the show is the trend setter of the many shows that are scheduled during the year. With an exciting and diverse schedule of events to whet the appetite of any true race fan, large crowds are expected to fill the wide walkways of the Phillipsburg Mall.
The longtime broadcasting team of Ed and Steve Pados from Gasoline Alley fame, veteran announcer Bobby Stull, Bridgeport and Thunder announcer Jeff Ahlum and former Lake Mocatek co-announcer Justin Beltrame will head up the announcing team for the week long show. IRCO Vice President Greg Collins, who also serves as the noted historian of the Harmony Speedway, is expected to have much of his memorabilia from the Harmony Speedway for the event and Beltrame will once again spearhead and show the vast collection of Lake Mocatek material he has collected over the years.
The IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show has a must have event T-shirt done exclusively for the show, highlighting many of our racing heroes who have passed away in the past
year. The great keepsake event souvenir program book has many great articles regarding our racing heroes. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
