PAUCH JR. PICKS UP 4TH WIN OF SEASON IN MODIFIEDS, HAUS AND BECKER ALSO VICTORIOUS

MINERSVILLE, PA - July 11th, 2014

Friday night proved to be another great night of racing action at Big Diamond Speedway.

The Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic 358 Modified feature saw the green flag fly over the front row of Dan Hineline and Kyle Follweiler.  Follweiler quickly shot out to the lead followed by John Willman, who was feeling the pressure early on from Meme Desantis.  As Follweiler led the way, current track points leader Billy Pauch Jr. was working his way to the front from his 8th place starting position.  By lap 15 he had passed Willman to secure the second place spot.  The caution flew for the first time on lap 17 when Ray Swinehart’s ride came to a stop just off of turn 2.  On the restart, Bobby Gunther Walsh found himself spinning in turn 3, causing the caution to fly again.  The next attempt to start the race saw the cars of Lou Cicconi, Heath Metzger and Jim Bobbit Jr. get together.  The field then settled in and Follweiler once again jumped out in front, feeling the pressure of Pauch right on his bumper.  The caution would fly again on lap 22 when the 7 of Kevin Smith slowly limped down the front stretch trying to get into the pit area.  The green flag flew again with Follweiler and Pauch still battling, and Pauch would take the lead.  The next lap, Kyle drove his ride hard into turn 1 in an attempt to retake the lead, his car became airborne, and flipped through the corner.  The driver, although frustrated, was uninjured.  After a brief clean up of fluids that were on the track from the incident, Pauch led the field back to a green, white, and checker finish.  Pauch would hold off challenges from Duane Howard and Meme Desantis to earn his 10th career win at Big Diamond Speedway.  This also puts him in a three way tie with Dave Schoffstall and Doug Manmiller for 22nd on the all-time win list in the Modified division.  Jared Umbenhauer and Dale Hartz rounded out the top five positions.

The Savage 61 Roadrunners ran their make-up Pro Shine Auto Detailing Challenge races prior to the start of their feature event Friday evening.  Joe Kavanaugh chose to take on Jared Siegfried in the first round and was able to take the win and challenge Jesse Krasnitsky.  Kavanaugh once again was first back to the checkers and called out Terry Kramer Jr. as his opponent.  Kramer this time found the better line and took home the win in the 3rd round.  Kramer then challenged TJ Fitzpatrick,
but Fitpatrick bested Kramer and then started his domination, defeating Tim Fitpatrick Jr, Jim Kost, Joey Brennan, Shon Elk, and Jeremy Becker before challenging Chris Holland.  Holland and Fitzpatrick battled the entire lap, trading some paint, before drag racing to the checker flag, where Chris Holland took home the final win and earned $200.  Each round winner earned themselves a $20 prize.

In the Roadrunner feature, Joey Brennan and Jeremy Becker led the field to the green flag.  Becker would take the early lead with Brennan on his tail.  Brennan took over the top spot on lap 7, but it was short lived as Becker regained the top honors the following lap.  The battle for 2nd began to heat up as Andrew Fayash III put the pressure on Brennan and would continue to hound him until the checker flag flew.  Becker brought home the win followed by Brennan, Fayash III, Chris Holland and Jim Kost.

The Jeremy Silfko Fabrication Services Late Models were also in action Friday evening.  Scott Haus and Jim O’Hara brought the field to the green flag.  Ben Whitaker would put his number 13x ride out in front and had to hold off the hard challenges of Haus.  On lap 7, the caution flag flew after Steve Nederostek took a hard hit in turn 3, which caused him to need the assistance of two tow trucks to get his ride off the track.  On the restart, Whitaker once again jumped out to the lead, but Haus took over the top spot on lap 8.  Ben did everything he could to reel back in the leader, and with 3 to go, they were battling hard and Whitaker had a strong run on Haus, but he had to back off and regain control of his car and that caused him to lose valuable track position on the leader.  Ben would begin to reel in Scott again, but time would run out as the checker flag flew and he would have to settle to ended up finishing runner up.  Scott Haus brought home the win, followed by Ben Whitaker, Bryan Bernheisel, Danny Snyder and Jim O’Hara.
