BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY CAR SHOW AND RACING FILL UP SATURDAY’S SCHEDULE FOR B&M MOTORSPORTS
Sicklerville, NJ (June 10, 2014) – Saturday, June 7 was an event filled day for the B&M Motorsports team. Starting in the morning, Brett Ballard’s 5B Big Block Modified and the 14 Crate/Sportsman car driven by Brad Roberts participated at a Bridgeport Speedway Car show. The two teammates joined seven other racers for the event at the John Latwinas Farmers Insurance Agency in Sicklerville, NJ.
Following the show, Ballard and Roberts headed to Bridgeport Speedway for a night of competition at the Southern New Jersey complex. In the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modified division, Ballard scored a heat race win in the second qualifying event. Starting from second place in the 25-lap feature, the Pennsville, NJ racer jumped out to the lead and set the pace for the opening two tours. Following a restart, Ballard slipped to second with three circuits completed. Ballard’s fantastic start in the race began to fade as an issue with his right rear tire was taking place. “We made the wrong tire choice,” stated Ballard. Ultimately, Ballard made a visit to the pits on the twelfth lap and changed his right rear. At the end, Ballard was credited with a seventeenth place finish. “We just need to tweak our setup a little. We just need to make better decisions about our choices before the feature,” commented Ballard. John Latwinas Farmers Insurance Agency, Larkin Auto Service, CB Productions, CTS Landscape, and Delran Auto Body are Ballard’s 2014 marketing partners. The driver of the 5B Big Block Modified will be back at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, June 14 to compete in the special Sail Panel race for the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifieds.
In the 811 Dig Safely Crate/Sportsman class, Roberts experienced some trouble in his qualifying event. During the contest, his radiator suffered damage from a stone and he retired from the heat race. Due to this incident, he was relegated to a twenty-third starting spot for the 20-lap main event. In the early going of the feature, Roberts was on a mission as he was scored in fourteenth place with five circuits recorded. “The track was really wide and racy,” remarked Roberts about his quick advancement. Roberts eventually made it up to ninth place. In the final circuits, the Delaware based driver slipped back a few spots and finished the race in twelfth. Roberts will be back steering his 14B Bicknell at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, June 14. Array of Monograms, Ronnie’s Auto Repair, Roberts Motors, and Nucar Wholesale Parts are his current marketing partners.
