Big Diamond Speedway World Of Outlaw Late Model Results/Story‏

LANIGAN WINS WORLD OF OUTLAW LATE MODEL "DIAMOND SHINES 40" AT BIG DIAMOND, HOLLAND MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW IN ROADRUNNERS

MINERSVILLE, PA - June 25th, 2014

The last time the World Of Outlaw Late Models raced at Big Diamond Speedway back in 2009, Darrell Lanigan finished 3rd and took home $2,600 for his efforts.  In his first race at the track since that night five years ago, he did two positions and $5,400 better, taking the victory in the $8,000 to win "Diamond Shines 40" event.

Chub Frank jumped into the lead from his outside pole starting position at the drop of the green flag and immediately pulled away from the field over the first eleven laps of the event.  The caution flag waved during lap #12, as Frank made contact with the #13x car of Ben Whitaker while trying to lap him, sending Whitaker spinning.  On the ensuing restart, Frank continued to lead over Darrell Lanigan and Rick Eckert, who had moved up from the seventh starting spot.  On lap #17 Dan Stone moved into the top five in his charge from tenth, and at the halfway point it was Frank, Lanigan, Eckert, Eric Wells, and Stone.  Lanigan was quickly closing in on Frank by this point though, as the leaders had once again entered heavy lapped traffic.  Exiting turn #2 on the 25th lap Lanigan finally made his move, charging to the outside of Frank to take the lead.  Just one lap later the caution flag was out for "Boom" Briggs who had slowed on the track.  On the restart Eckert now jumped into the runner-up spot and started to pressure Lanigan.  Eckert high, Lanigan low, lap after lap until Eckert jumped the cushion just slightly between turns one and two, giving Lanigan the little bit of breathing room he desired.  The caution flew for the final time on lap #35 for a flat on the Chase Junghans machine, setting up one last chance for Eckert to make his move on Lanigan.  Lanigan was not to be denied though, pulling away to a comfortable ten car length lead over those final five laps to take home the $8,000 payday for his 5th World Of Outlaw feature victory this season, and 7th overall victory of the year.  The win was also the 58th of Lanigan's World Of Outlaw career, tops in the division.  Eckert held on for second, followed by Frank, Stone, and Wells.  Sixth thru tenth were Shane Clanton, Jason Covert, Tim McCreadie, Frankie Heckenast Jr. and Morgan "Mo Bags" Bagley.

Lanigan set fast time for the evening in time trials with a lap of 15.968 seconds.  Heat races for the 31 Super Late Models on hand were won by Darrell Lanigan, Eric Wells, and Shane Clanton.  The B-Main was won by Pancho Lawler.

In the Savage 61 Roadrunner feature event, Chris Holland grabbed the lead at the drop of the green from his outside pole starting spot and never looked back, taking his second win in a row in the division.  Action was fast and furious behind Holland, with Jeremy Becker and Andrew Fayash III racing wheel to wheel from their seventh and fifth place starting positions.  Terry Kramer Jr. came on strong late, making it a three car battle for the runner up spot, but in the end Holland took the victory by a comfortable margin over Becker, who was followed closely by Fayash III, Kramer Jr., and two time winner Tom Hablett.  Sixth thru tenth were Joey Brennan, Devin Trexler, Jim Kost, three time winner Tim Fitzpatrick Jr., and Jared Seigfried.

Heat races were won by Brennan and Holland.
