CHAMPIONS TO BE HONORED AND SPECIAL AWARDS TO BE ANNOUNCED AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY’S 51st ANNUAL NASCAR WEEKLY RACING SERIES AWARDS BANQUET
GILBERTSVILLE, PA November 6, 2013 . . . A full house turnout is expected to attend the 51st Annual Grandview Speedway NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Awards Banquet set for Saturday, November 16th at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Co. Social Hall.
NASCAR 358 Modified Champion Craig VonDohren will be honored for winning his seventh track title while Jared Umbenhauer will receive the NASCAR Sportsman Championship honors for the second straight year and Jason Miller will celebrate his first NASCAR Late Model title. All three drivers along with their car owners will reap a harvest of awards with VonDohren taking home well in excess of $10,000 for his championship efforts.
Grandview Speedway continues to be one of few weekly short tracks in the nation that offers two point funds to their competitors with point fund money coming from national sanctioning organization NASCAR and track owners Bruce and Teresa Rogers.
In addition to the awards to the top point performers there will be special awards in all three divisions for the Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Driver, Best Newcomer and others.
Appreciation awards will go to a number of individuals, track officials and media.
Marketing Director Ernie Saxton will serve as the Master of Ceremonies as he has for the last 45 years. Saxton recently retired as the track announcer and this will be his final effort as the banquet MC. He will continue as the marketing director handling public relations, sponsorship and advertising as he has for the past 47 years.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. with a home style dinner of roast beef and ham being served at 6 p.m. with awards following. There will be free beer and soda along with a cash bar. Attendees are reminded that the banquet is smoke free. Music for dancing will be provided starting at 10 p.m.
It is expected that there will be a number of announcements regarding the 2014 season being made at the banquet.
