5 MILE POINT POSTPONED TILL NEXT SATURDAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GARY’S U-PULL IT SOUTHERN TIER 100 POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH. RACE OF CHAMPIONS MODIFIED TOUR POINTS TO BE DECIDED SUNDAY, APRIL 13TH.
KIRKWOOD, NY…Cold and wet weather has forced the postponement of the annual Gary’s U-Pull It Southern Tier 100 to Saturday, November 9th at 1 p.m. The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour title will be decided on the track Sunday, April 13th at Five Mile Point Speedway.
All of the divisions that were scheduled for Saturday will be moved to next Saturday, November 9th. Pit gates open at 10 a.m. with grandstand gates open at 11 a.m. Practice will take place at 12 noon with racing set for 1 p.m. The two Modified Guaranteed Starter races will be held as originally scheduled as well. The Southern Tier 100 will now be a non-point event.
The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour final point race has been moved to the spring at Five Mile Point Speedway. The Sunday, April 13th RoC event will now serve as the RoC Modified Tour point finale. With many of the teams in the current point race obligated to compete in Charlotte, North Carolina next weekend the decision was made to give them an opportunity to race for the title.
The Race of Champions Dirt Street Stock Championship points will be decided next Saturday as well as the IMCA Modified Empire State Series. The Excel 600 c.c. Modifieds will also be on the card next Saturday.
Five Mile Point Speedway owner and Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour Director Andrew Harpell commented, “We knew this weekend wasn’t going to be a good option with the worsening forecast for both days.” “We talked to several of our RoC Modified Tour teams and the majority wanted the option to race the championship out on the track even if it was the spring.” “After discussions we opted for the spring RoC date”. “We wanted to complete the weekend as soon as possible but still give the teams that option to race for the title, I feel this accomplishes both.”
Further complete details will be released shortly. The second day of the Gary’s U-Pull It National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend will be next Saturday, November 9th. Racing will begin at 1 p.m. For more information please phone the speedway offices at 607-775-5555 or log to www.fivemilepointspeedway.net
