Bridgeport, NJ (October 31, 2013) – Three series champions will be determined at Bridgeport Speedway’s Wild Card Weekend slated for Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16.
On Saturday, the Big Block Modified Poker Series champion will be crowned following The Gone But Not Forgotten 40-lap feature paying $4000 to the victor, $500 to the tenth place finisher and $300 to take the green. This special race will honor Doug Hoffman, the late promoter of the South Jersey race track. In each Poker Series race, the top thirteen place finishers in the feature are awarded a playing card starting with an Ace going to the winner and ending with a Deuce going to the thirteenth place finisher. Currently, the top hand in the Big Block Modified Poker Series is held by Neal Williams with a pair of Fours and one Nine. Fourteen other competitors including Duane Howard (King, Queen, Ten), Jimmy Horton, (Ace, Eight, Three) and Richie Pratt, Jr. (Queen, Nine, Eight, Six) have a legitimate shot at the series title in 2013.
A 25-lap race will serve as the final hand in the Crate/Sportsman Poker Series with $1000 awarded to the winner and $100 to start the race. In addition, plenty of contingency awards will be dispersed throughout the expanded 26-car feature field. After four races, Kyle Borror has the best hand with two Kings, an Ace and a Four. Mike Lyons has the second best hand with a pair of Queens and a Three. Mike Cogdill, the 2013 class champion, is close behind with two Nines and Steve Davis has a chance to grab the title with an Ace, King, Queen and a Deuce.
Black Flagged Racing’s Outlaw Stock Car Shoot-Out Series comes to an end as the full-fendered racers will be in action on both days of Wild Card Weekend. On Friday, the Fallen Friends 20 will be staged on the outer oval in honor of Marty Kulesza, the late sponsor of the Outlaw Stock Car class at Bridgeport Speedway and proprietor of Proformance Cuts. The first place finisher will receive at least $500 dollars. On Saturday, the Friends of Mike 20-lap series finale will pay $1000 to the winner. Each race will have bonuses provided through the efforts of Black Flagged Racing. In addition, Carl Thomas will provide $50 to each victor in Friday’s heat races while the winners of Saturday’s qualifying events will collect $75. Entering the final events, Bill Liedtka leads the standings with 188 points with Ron Frees and Brian Ludwig tied for second with 169 markers.
Also on Friday, the 358 Small Block Modifieds will do battle in a 30-lap feature paying $3000 to the winner, $500 for tenth and $225 to take the green. The victor of Friday’s 358 Small Block Modified event will earn a guaranteed starting spot at Accord Speedway’s Gobbler race on Saturday, November 30. The TSRS Sprint Cars wrap up the day one agenda with a 20-lap main event following timed dashes. The Saturday program is enhanced with an appearance by the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club.
In addition to the races, several other happenings will take place. A post-race party will take place on Friday evening at the pavilion behind the spectator grandstand.
