RICK LAFFERTY AND TYLER REINHARDT WIN FEATURES AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S JASON LEFFLER TRIBUTE RACE
Bridgeport, NJ (September 9, 2013) – Before a large crowd at Bridgeport Speedway’s Jason Leffler Tribute Race, Rick Lafferty won the 25-lap race for the 410 Sprint Cars. The TSRS Sprint Car main event was taken by Tyler Reinhardt.
In the 25-lap main for the 410 Sprint Cars, Rick Lafferty led every step of the way to collect the $7000 first place prize. At the drop of the green flag, Lafferty blasted to the lead from his third place starting spot. With five circuits completed, Lafferty had a full straightaway lead over Lance Dewease. Dave Blaney, who started the race in eighth, moved past Lucas Wolfe to gain third place on the sixth tour. One circuit later, Lafferty began to encounter lap traffic. By lap 10, Lafferty’s huge lead was only a half-straightway over Dewease. Lafferty was still holding onto the front running spot when Jacob Allen’s spin on the thirteenth circuit brought out the only caution flag of the contest. With the benefit of a clear race track, Lafferty quickly darted out to big lead following the restart. With five laps remaining, the leader began to encounter slower cars and Dewease was reeling in Lafferty. By lap 22, Lafferty and Dewease were in tight quarters as the top runners were in heavy traffic. In the final laps, Lafferty held off Dewease to grab the victory. Blaney completed the race in third. Wolfe came home in fourth and Logan Schuchart finished in fifth. Logan Schuchart and Rick Lafferty were victors in the 410 Sprint Car heats. Jacob Allen won the dash. Lafferty donated ten percent of his winnings to the Charlie Dean Leffler Trust Fund.
After taking the lead on the tenth tour of the 20-lap TSRS Sprint Car feature, Tyler Reinhardt paced the field for the remaining circuits to rack up his second Bridgeport Speedway win of the season. The runner-up spot was taken by Mike Esposito who had led the opening nine laps of the race. Anthony Sesely, George Loux, and Stef Palmai rounded out the top five. The TSRS Sprint Car qualifying races were won by Mike Esposito, Eddie Wagner, and Mario Page.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
NOTES: The Jason Leffler Tribute Race was a huge success by raising in excess of $18,000 for Leffler's young son, Charlie Dean Leffler. Mike Heffner joined forces with Bridgeport Speedway Management to promote the special event. Heffner's goal of $10,000 was exceeded by the generosity and support of the race fans. Fans who returned with their ticket stubs from the June show were treated to a number of special considerations including early entrance to the grounds, preferred seating and food. Fans attending for the first time were asked to donate towards the Charlie Dean Leffler Trust Fund in lieu of paying admission. A silent auction was held throughout the day.
