CHAD TROUT SCORES FIRST CAREER RISLONE URC VICTORY SATURDAY NIGHT AT LINCOLN, KRAMER WILLIAMON INJURED IN HEAT RACE CRASH
Chad Trout of Dover, PA led all twenty-five laps to win the Rislone URC sprint feature event Saturday night at the Lincoln Speedway. During the running of the first heat race, Kramer Williamson of Palmyra, PA flipped between turns one and two on lap three. Williamson, the winner of sixty-seven URC victories and a former URC champion was transported to the hospital where surgery was performed. At this time, he is in critical condition. In victory lane, race winner Chad Trout extended his thoughts and prayers to the Williamson family.
A field of forty-two cars turned out and took time trials for the URC 360/358 Challenge event with Gerard McIntyre Jr setting fast time of 13.995. The four heat race victories went to Josh Weller, Niki Young, JJ Grasso and Davie Franek. Two “B” main events were necessary with wins going to Brook Zearfoss and Dave Ely.
In the twenty-five lap feature, Chad Trout took command at the drop of the green flag with Andy Best and Gerard McIntyre in the chase. Trout maintained a strong lead then on lap seven the red was displayed with Davie Franek and Randy West tangled in turn three. Franek took a wild flip that left the car handing on the third turn fence. Franek was not injured.
On the restart, Trout remained in command with Best and McIntyre trying to reel in the leader. At the halfway point, Trout, Best, McIntyre, Billy Pauch and Glendon Forsythe made-up the top five. Trout continued to run a flawless race at the front of the pack but with five laps remaining, the leader was quickly approaching slower cars. Best and McIntyre closed slightly on Trout but never offered a serious challenge. In the final laps Niki Young challenged Pauch for the fourth spot.
With the checker flag waiving, Trout took the win over Andy Best, Gerard McIntyre, Billy Pauch Jr and Niki Young. Making up the top ten were Aaron Ott, Ryan Wilson, Glendon Forsythe, Josh Weller and Brian Carber.
