$25,000 WAITING
FOR WINNER OF FREEDOM 76 MODIFIED CLASSIC AT GRANDVIEW
SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA
August 8, 2013 . . . The biggest event of the season at Grandview Speedway, the
annual BPG Racing Freedom 76, is set for Saturday, September 14th.
And as it has for so many years the 76-lap race for Modified stock cars will
reward the winner with the largest first place offering of any weekly short
track in the Northeast, $25,000.
Three of the racers expected to be
factors in the battle for the big payday are current NASCAR 358 Modified point
leader Craig VonDohren, defending 358 Modified champion Duane Howard and
defending race winner Jeff Strunk. Between the three there have been 20 track
titles earned at Grandview Speedway. Strunk had nine titles, VonDohren has
earned the championship six times and Howard has five titles. All three are
currently in the running for the NASCAR 358 title at the Berks County clay oval
and all three have to be considered strong favorites for a win in the BPG Racing
Freedom 76.
Strunk was a huge winner in the race
last season when he picked up more than $50,000 for his winning efforts. The
increased winner’s share was in honor of the 50th anniversary
season.
There is a long list of racing
talents expected to be included in the race with entries expected to start
arriving shortly.
A full series of qualifying events will be
presented to fill out the starting field for the 76 lap race. A Cash Dash will
feature the top performers of the night.
The rain date is set for Saturday,
September 21.
Adult admission will be $30 while
youngsters 6 through 12 will pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted
free.
There is a special promotion in
place that offers an adult ticket and a lap sponsorship for just $40, a package
that would normally cost $50 with all money going into the lap sponsorship fund.
A lap sponsorship without the ticket purchase is just $20. The ticket/lap
package or lap sponsorships are available from Marilyn Saxton in the track
office or contact Ernie Saxton at the track or at
215.752.7797.
Racing will get the green flag at 7
p.m.
