RAIN WASHES OUT BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY FOR 7th TIME IN
2013
MINERSVILLE, PA - JULY 14th, 2013
For the 7th time this
season, rain forced the cancellation of the racing events scheduled for Big
Diamond Speedway on Friday, July 12th.
The track was already packed with
fans and cars alike, as lots of people arrived early to partake in the
FANdemonium events scheduled for the evening, which included free grandstand
admission to everyone attending,
Big Diamond Speedway will try once again
to present FANdemonium this coming Friday, July 19th. On the card will be the
ZY Pyrotechnics 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Sportsman, and Savage 61 Roadrunners
all competing in regular points paying events. Everyone will be admitted to the
grandstand area free of charge. There will again be cars on display, the SPCA
will be there with games and raffles, the Reading Eagle/Brad Arnold Racing team
will have free posters for the fans, and much, much more. Before the rains
came, this was setting itself up to be one of the most historic evenings in Big
Diamond history, and we expect this coming Friday will be no different. Plan to
get there early, because we once again expect a standing room only
crowd.
Then on Friday, July 26th, Big Diamond Speedway tries once again
to present the Crazy 8's for the Roadrunner division. The ZY Pyrotechnics 358
Modifieds, USS Achey Sportsman, and Anthracite Coal Delivery Street Stocks will
be on the card with their normal 25 and 20 lap feature events respectfully, but
what everyone will be there to see is the fan favorite Savage 61 Roadrunners
competing in the Crazy 8's - four 8 lap feature events. Each 8 lap feature for
the Roadrunners will be a full, points paying event. The first feature will be
lined up by normal handicapping procedures. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th feature events
will be lined up via an invert number, drawn by the previous feature winner. The
invert numbers available will be 5 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 11 - and 13. Whatever number is
drawn for the 2nd feature will not be used again. Same thing for the 3rd and 4th
features. An invert number can only be used one time during the night. Should
make an interesting show even more interesting. The point standing are sure to
look a lot different once the night is over.
A reminder that on Sunday,
September 1st will be the Jack Rich Memorial Coal Cracker 72 race for the ZY
Pyrotechnics 358 Modifieds at Big Diamond Speedway. The race will once again be
72 laps paying $10,000 to win. This years "to take the green" money has been
increased to $500.
The entire evenings events will be sponsored by Jack
Rich, Inc. Jack Rich is your full service community oil company, supplying
quality fuels & related heating, cooling and plumbing services throughout
the Greater Schuylkill County.
Heat races will be lined up by luck of the
draw. All drivers who finish in a handicap spot in their heat event will redraw
for their feature starting position. All 72 laps in the feature will be run
under green flag conditions.
Big Diamond 358 Modified rules apply.
Weights will be 2350 for cars running alcohol and 2275 for those on gas. Any
American Racer tire with any track stamp will be allowed for this event as long
as the tread pattern and compounds are equal to Big Diamond Speedway
tires.
Pit participation fees will be $35.00 with a membership and $40.00
without. Any track license will be accepted as membership for this
event.
Early car registration fee for this event will be $30.00 per car.
The day of the race the car registration fee will increase to $40.00 per
car.
Grandstand admission will be $25.00 for this event. Kids 6 to 12
will be $5.00, kids under 6 years of age are admitted free of
charge.
First heat hits the track at 8:15 PM sharp.
Lap
sponsorships are available for $20.00 per lap. Laps can be purchased from Tim
Long at the pit sign in booth each race night from now until the event. You can
also email pengwin1@ptd.net with details
if interested in sponsoring a lap.
