Chase
Billet Victorious in 25-Lap Late Model Feature at SSP on Saturday Night
Newberrytown,
PA (June 8, 2013) – York’s Chase Billet claimed
his second Late Model win of the season at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on
Saturday Night.
Mt. Wolf’s Gary Potts won his first Street Stock feature victory
of the season in the non-stop race.
York’s Patrick McClane won the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by
Carlisle’s Curt McDade. Mountville’s Donny Groff claimed the
Mini Van feature.
Logan Wagner of Harrisonville won the 20-lap PA Sprint Series
feature event.
Chase Billet
started on the pole position and grabbed the early lead over Chris Knopp. Although Billet led all 25 laps to claim the
feature win, the field was close behind the entire race. Billy Wampler challenged Knopp for the
runner-up spot numerous times, but could not complete the pass and settled for
third behind Knopp at the end. Behind
them, there was a lot of swapping of positions with Randy Christine Jr.
finishing fourth as J.R. Rodriguez completed the top five. Matt Adams won the JR’s Paving Hard Charger
award for finishing 9th after starting in the 17th
position. Christine Jr. and Chase Billet
were the heat race winners.
Jasen Geesaman
grabbed the early lead from the front row over Jim Palm Jr. in the Street Stock
20 lapper. On lap four, Mike Walls took
away the runner-up spot from Palm and then the lead from Geesaman two laps
later. At the same time, Gary Potts
moved to the front as well and began to battle Walls for the lead. Potts took the lead on lap 13. Mike Walls continued to pursue, but could not
make the winning pass. At the end, Potts
posted a new track record of 7 minutes and 15.78 seconds with the win in the
non-stop 20 lap race. Walls settled for
second with Randy Zedchman finishing third.
Geesaman and Palm Jr. rounded out the top five. Mike Walls and Randy Zechman were heat race
victors.
The 20-lap
Xtreme Stock Car feature event had Tim Hahn take the lead on the start from
outside the front row. On the next
circuit, Patrick McClane took over the top spot and never looked back to claim
his third win of the season. Tim Hahn
finished in second, a season best for him. Chad Stine finished third and was the Madison
House Hard Charger after starting in the 10th position. Rich Lomman in fourth. Justin Palm filled in for last week’s feature
winner Johnny Palm and rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Hahn and
Lomman.
Dennis Dorosz
took the lead on the first lap from the pole position. Curt McDade took the lead on lap two and
never looked back. Ricky Weaver made an
exciting last lap pass to take second place over Daryl Sipe. Terry Hartlaub finished in fourth, followed
by Brian Lefebvre in fifth. Dorosz and
Hartlaub were heat race winners.
In the Mini Van
feature, Donny Groff took his third consecutive Mini Van victory over John
Kitner who led the first 13 laps. Zakari
Kitner finished third, followed Jeremy Haines.
Groff was also the heat race victor.
In the PA
Sprint Series 20-lap feature event, Logan Wager led the first lap, the last lap
and all laps in between. Kody Lehman
stalked Wagner but could not get close enough in lapped traffic and settled for
second. Dalton Dietrich finished in
third with Tyler Reeser in fourth. After
being involved in a first lap caution, Mike Wagner II came from the back to
finish fifth at the end. Mark Watkins,
Mike Wagner II and Lehman were the heat race winners. Andrew Hake on the consolation race.

based on a blind draw and the second feature (20 laps) will be inverted by the
finishing order of feature one with all cars on the lead lap. All lapped cars and DNFs will follow the cars
finishing on the lead lap. Each feature
will present trophies or medals to the top three finishers in each
class.
The
pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:20 p.m. Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing
action begins at 7:30 p.m. The entry fees
for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal
(Spring/Summer) license. Pit pass fees
for the driver are included in the entry fee.

compete.
