The storm has passed, life will
return to normal.
The 7th running of
the USAC Eastern Storm is now history as three of the four events were completed
with Path Valley being the one track that was forced to cancel due to rain.
Daron Clayton of Sikeston, MO known in the racing circles as the “Modern Day
Cowboy” was the winner of the Eastern Storm opener at the Grandview Speedway on
Wednesday night, June 5. Path Valley, scheduled for Thursday night was
cancelled due to rain. The USAC sprints returned to action on Saturday night
at the Port Royal Speedway where Dave Darland of Lincoln, IN dominated the field
to pocket the $6,000 first place prize. The Eastern Storm finale took place at
the Susquehanna Speedway with Shane Cottle Kokomo, IN taking the win over
Kevin Thomas Jr.
In the final Rotondo Weirich
Eastern Storm points, Bryan Clauson of Nobelsville, IN claimed the title for
the second consecutive season. The point battle was as close as the racing on
the track with just two point separating the top three in the final standings.
Clauson earned 182 points over Dave Darland with 181 and Daron Clayton earned
180 points. Rounding out the top five were Tracy Hines 164 and Levi Jones with
163. Making up the Eastern Storm top ten in points were Shane Cottle 158,
