Steel Block Bandits Late Models Invade SSP This Satruday

Newberrytown, PA (May 10, 2013) – On Saturday night, May 18, the Steel Block Bandits Late Model Series make its first of three visits to the Newberrytown oval. The feature winner will earn $1,500. Joining the Late Models will be the Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and the Sidewinder Sprints.

The Steel Block Bandits Late Model Series will be 30-laps with 22 cars qualifying for the feature event. The 23^rd starter will be the highest SSP points championship non-qualifier and the 24^th and/or 25^th starters will be provisionals selected by the Steel Block Bandits series. The A-Main will pay $1,500-to-win and $150-to-start. All non-qualifiers will receive $50. There will be a $35.00 entry fee for all Late Model drivers when they draw for heat race starting position at the Steel Block Bandits registration trailer. All qualifying will be through heat races and last chance qualifying races. For more information and rules, visit www.steelblockbandits.com. Every Late Model competitor on May 18 will receive 75 appearance points for the evening towards the SSP track championship rather than finishing points.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track Prep laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Sunday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $15.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $13.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.

On Friday night, May 17, the first race of the Spring Shoot-Out Series will be held at the SSP Outback Track for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars. The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:20 p.m. Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal (Spring/Summer) license. Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee. Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00. Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class regardless of class entry count. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.

Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00. Ages 2 & under are admitted free.

The 9-race Summer Shoot-Out Series will begin on Friday, June 28. There will be separate point champions crowned from both the Spring and Summer Shoot-Out Series.

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune for any type of racecar will be on Wednesday, May 22. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Each session will be 4-6 laps per session depending on car count. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 4/6 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.

Due to the completion of only half the Wednesday Night Test & Tune on April 24, all pit passes and car entries from the April 24 Test & Tune may be used for half credit ($6.00 towards pit passes and $10 towards car entry) for any Test & Tune session through October 23, 2013. Pit passes from April 24 must be presented for credit.

Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on May 22

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night. - Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.

The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.

- Free Pit Passes for all Non-Qualifiers in 2013 – Any non-qualifier who starts the a qualifying heat race and fails to qualify for the feature in the Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars, Legends Cars, Mini Vans and Road Warriors divisions during the regular season point events will receive a complimentary pit pass for the driver for the following week during the regular season from April 6 though September 14. The driver must possess a full annual SSP license in order to be eligible for the complimentary pit pass and pass is not transferable to another driver or to another week beyond the following week.

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2013 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2013. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

Ticket Stubs from the Sunday, May 12 or Saturday April 27 may be used for Saturday, May 18 for the Repeat Fan Discount.
