Stoudt
Outduals Wampler to Win at SSP on Saturday Night
Newberrytown,
PA (April 27, 2013) – Pottstown’s Randy Stoudt claimed his first Late Model win
of the season in an epic late race battle with Billy Wampler at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park on Saturday Night. Littlestown’s Randy Zechman took his
second consecutive win in the Street Stock 20 lapper. York’s Patrick McClane wired the field to win
the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. The
15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by York Haven’s Daryl Sipe for the third
week in a row. York Haven’s Zakari
Kitner claimed the Mini Van feature. The
Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown was on hand to present each feature winner with a
checkered flag.
Randy Stoudt
started on the pole position and grabbed the early lead over Tim Murphy. As Stoudt set the pace of the race, as Chase
Billet, Billy Wampler and J.R Rodriguez battled for the third spot. At the midway point of the race, the yellow
flew, bunching up the field behind Stoudt.
On the restart, Stoudt continued to set the pace with the battle for
third continuing where it left off. With
10 laps to go, Wampler and Billet closed in on Murphy to make a three car battle
for the runner-up spot. On lap 19,
Wampler got by Murphy and set his sights on the leader. A caution lag flew again on lap 21 as Chase
Billet slowed on the track with mechanical failure, retiring him from the
race. A four lap shoot-out for the win
continued on the restart with Wampler and Stoudt battling side-by-side for the
win. Wampler took the lead by inches on
the lap 24. Stoudt battled back to lead
the final circuit to take his first victory of the season. Wampler settled for a hard fought second,
followed by J.R. Rodriguez. Kyle Martin
won the JR’s Paving Hard Charger award for the second week in a row by finishing
4th after starting in the 11th position. Justin Ehrhart rounded out the top five. Rodriguez and Randy Christine Jr. were the
heat race winners.
After two
cautions on the initial starts, Bob Scott Jr. grabbed the early lead of the
20-lap Street Stock feature. On lap 3,
Randy Zechman scooted by Scott to take the top spot. Three laps later Josh Bloom moved into the
runner-up spot. Scott brought out the
yellow on lap 9 and retired from the race two laps later with mechanical
failure. Zechman continued to lead
through the midway part of the race as runner-up Bloom started to fade and also
retired from the race on lap 13.
Meanwhile Gary Potts claimed the 2nd spot and closed in on
Zechman but ran out of time at the end as Zechman took the win. Potts settled for second with Eddie Richards
taking third place. Chris Der and Jim
Palm Jr. rounded out the top five.
Zechman and Scott Thunberg were heat race victors.
In the PA
Sprint Series 20-lap feature event, Mike Wagner II took the early lead from the
pole position. Jason Bergstresser
followed in second with Craig Myers in third throughtout the race. During the waning stages, Wagner opened up a
half straightaway lead until laps 15 when Wagner spun on the backstretch,
retiring him from the race. Runner-up
Bergstresser inherited the lead. On the
restart, Bergstresser led with Myers in tow.
With two to go, Lehman brought out the yellow with a flat tire while
running third. At the finish,
Bergstresser finished two car lengths ahead of Wagner to claim his first SSP
career victory. Freddie Rahmer made a
last lap pass to claim third place over Mark Watkins. Ryan Lynn rounded out the top five. Mike Wagner, Jason Bergstresser and Kody
Lehman were the heat race winners.
The 20-lap
Xtreme Stock Car feature event had Patrick McClane take his second consecutive
win of the season over Cameron Benyou.
Donnie Broderick finished third, followed by Chad Stine and Dan
Snyder. The heat race winners were
Broderick and Benyou.
Daryl Sipe took
the lead on the start with Curt McDade in the runner-up spot. At the finish, they ended the same way with
Sipe taking the win over McDade. Brian
Walls finished in third followed by Dennis Dorosz and Robert Michlow rounding
out the top five. Sipe and Dorosz were
heat race winners.
In the Mini Van
feature, Donny Groff grabbed the lead on the start. Zakari Kitner took the lead on the final
circuit to take the win over Donny Groff.

was the heat race victor.
