SSP Features Figure 8 Racing This Weekend

Next Wednesday Test & Tune on April 24

Newberrytown, PA (April 15, 2013) – On Saturday night, April 20 racing returns to the Big Track at the Susquehanna Speedway Park featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors/Mini Vans, PENNMAR Vintage Cars and a Figure 8 race on the frontstretch to conclude the evening’s events.

This will mark the first appearance of the season for the PENNMAR Vintage Cars. The Figure 8 racing began last season at SSP with three events. This year’s events will pay the following purse - (10 or more cars): 1) $300; 2) $150; 3) $100; 4) $75; 5) $50; 6-10) $25. for 9 or less cars the purse will be – 1) $200; 2) $125; 3) $100; 4) $50; 5) 25. The rules for Figure 8 racing may be found at www.sspracing.net.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open at 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Track Prep laps begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.

Last Saturday night, Chase Billet of Dover claimed an emotional victory in the Late Models on York County Racing Club Night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Hanover’s Mike Walls took his second win-in-row by leading every lap of the Street Stock 20 lapper. Logan Wagner of Harrisonville picked up the win in the 20-lap PA Sprint Series feature event. Lancaster’s Donnie Broderick won the Xtreme Stock Car 20 lapper. The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by York Haven’s Daryl Sipe. Joshua Michael claimed the 10-lap Mini Van feature.

On Sunday night, Salfordsville’e Fred Rahmer took the victory in the 4^th Annual Sprint Car Spring Classic. Ryan Wilson of Maytown collected the 358 Sprint Car 20 lapper.

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on April 24

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.

Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

- Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent beginning March 1, 2013. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.

The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.

- Free Pit Passes for all Non-Qualifiers in 2013 – Any non-qualifier who starts the a qualifying heat race and fails to qualify for the feature in the Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars, Legends Cars, Mini Vans and Road Warriors divisions during the regular season point events will receive a complimentary pit pass for the driver for the following week during the regular season from April 6 though September 14. The driver must possess a full annual SSP license in order to be eligible for the complimentary pit pass and pass is not transferable to another driver or to another week beyond the following week.

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2013 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2013. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

Ticket Stubs from the Saturday, November 10, 2012 Final Showdown race may be used for one of the first three races on April 6, April 13 & April 14.
