DUANE HOWARDS WINS 200th CAREER FEATURE IN MODIFIEDS, STILLWAGON BESTS URC FIELD, BERZOWSKI REPEATS IN ROADRUNNERS

MINERSVILLE, PA - APRIL 28th, 2013

Duane Howard raced to his 200th career victory Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway in the 25 lap ZY Pyrotechnics 358 Modified feature. Howard was driving the Ed and Karen Nowotarski #11 car and earned $2,750 for the victory.

Ricky Yetter charged in to the lead from his pole starting position, leading the first six laps. On a lap #7 restart, Yetter, Howard, and Craig Von Dohren went three wide coming off turn two, with Von Dohren taking over the lead. Howard moved into second on this same lap, but was no match for Von Dohren. On several restarts over the next 14 laps, Von Dohren continued to pull away each time. The complexion of the race changed dramatically with Von Dohren coming down to complete lap #21, as he coasted to a stop on the front stretch, his car out of fuel. Howard inherited the lead at this time, and ran the remaining four laps error free to cross the line for career win #200.

Howard was followed across the line by Doug Manmiller, Jeff Strunk, Meme Desantis, and Dale Hartz. Manmiller and Desantis both came from the rear of the field after being involved in early race tangles. For Hartz, it was his first top 5 of the season.

In victory lane, Howard thanked the many car owners and crew members who have helped him over the years to reach this milestone in his racing career. Howard's first modified race was at Big Diamond Speedway, so it was only fitting career win #200 came where it all began. The victory was Howard's 71st 358 Modified win at Big Diamond, and 77th overall. Thus the nickname "The Diamond Cutter" he was given many years ago.

Defending URC point champion Robbie Stillwagon took the lead from Dave Franek with less than five laps remaining to score the victory in the season opening 25 lap event for the URC Sprint Cars. Franek settled for second, followed by Bryn Gohn, Brian Carber, and Kevin Darling.

Marc Berzowski made it two in a row in the Savage 61 Roadrunner 20 lap feature. He was followed across the line by defending point champion Joey Brennan, Chris Holland, Jeremy Becker, and Jim Kost.

The entire evening was sponsored by Alpine Building Supply In Schuylkill Haven, PA
