THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

410 SPRINTS, USAC, MODIFIEDS, MIDGETS, SPORTSMAN & MORE PART OF 2013 NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

For the twenty-fourth consecutive season, the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will join the Grandview Speedway schedule of events for 2013.

Back in 1990, sprint car driver Dave Kelly brought together Grandview Speedway track owner Bruce Rogers and local publicist Bob Miller with the idea of running a 410 sprint show at Grandview Speedway. In August of 1990, Stevie Smith driving his Black Bandit #19 won the historic first ever Thunder on the Hill event. That one race soon developed into a series that presented 106 events and lured national divisions of racing to Grandview Speedway to include the SCRA Sprints, WoO Sprints & Late Models, DIRT Modifieds, USAC Non-wing sprints, ROC Modifieds, URC Sprints and ARDC Midgets. The Thunder Series crossed barriers by presenting different divisions and doing anything but, the normal.

Four race dates will be part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series in 2013, to include the four most popular shows of the past.

On June 5, the AMSOIL Non-Wing USAC Sprints will return to the Hill for a double-header with the ARDC Wingless Midgets. Race time is set for 7:30 PM. Always a block-buster event, evident by last year’s capacity filled grandstands will be the Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week Series. The best of the 410 sprint car drivers will team up with the Grandview 358 Modifieds for this always crowd-pleasing event that will take place on Tuesday night, July 2^nd at 7:30 PM.

The 16^th running of the Pioneer Pole Buildings TRAFFIC JAM for modifieds will take place on Tuesday night, July 30. Rich in tradition, winning the TRAFFIC JAM is on the wish list of every modified driver.

The Thunder Series finale will again be the House of Thunder Halloween Party and Grandview Thunder 5-25’s. The Saturday night, October 19 event will showcase five divisions of racing in a features only format. Included in the program will be the 358 Modifieds, URC Sprints, ARDC Midgets, Sportsman and Legends. Also on the card will be the Blast from the Past Vintage Cars, the Vince’s Towing Owners Race and the MONSTER SMASH Demolition Derby. The first of five feature will take the green flag at 6 PM.

The award winning Thunder on the Hill Racing Series has set the standard for mid-week racing offering unique and out of the ordinary shows. The live singing of the national anthem and fireworks on the parade lap has become trademark of Thunder on the Hill. The Inside Out Promotion, Joe the Pizza Dude, Rhyme Time, Thunder Bingo, Announcer for a Night, and the Trick or Treat Revenge Redraw are just a few of the fan interactive activities. Plan to expect more new and exciting concepts in 2013.

One of the strongest events in Thunder history is the combining of the Modifieds and 410 Sprint cars into a blockbuster doubleheader race card that offers a fan friendly admission of $22 for adults, this just adds to the uncontested credibility of Thunder on the Hill. Thunder on the Hill will work to again deliver a strong season in 2013, with huge plans in store for the 2014, 25^th Anniversary Season!

For the fourth time, Grandview Speedway track owner Bruce Rogers has earned the RPM Monthly Eastern Region Promoter of the Year Award. This also places Bruce in the running for the Auto Racing Promoter of the Year Award to be announced in Daytona, February 18-19. “Bruce is so deserving of this award and I truly believe 2013 is the year that he will earn the ultimate title”, commented Bob Miller. “I have learned so much from Bruce and greatly appreciate the open working relationship between the Rogers family and the Millers for the past twenty-four years of Thunder on the Hill”.
