BILL PAUCH JR ANNOUNCES PLANS TO COMPETE ON RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES TOUR OF 2013
Twenty-five year old Billy Pauch Jr of Frenchtown, NJ officially registered today to compete on the Rislone URC Sprint Series Tour of 2013.
Pauch has signed on to drive the Brian Thomas and Bruce Engler owned 360 sprint car with plans to race the entire URC schedule. The URC sprints are the oldest traveling sprint car organization in the country and will launch their sixty-sixth season at the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, April 26. Pauch will be in the field at Big Diamond, a track where he enjoyed much success racing a modified.
A Financial Analyst by profession, Billy Pauch Jr also has one of the most recognized names in racing. His father, Billy Pauch remains one of the winningest drivers in modified history and along the way, was a six time winner in URC as well. In 2003, Pauch Jr. started his driving career and since that time has competed in various divisions to include the dirt modifieds, ARDC Midgets, 410 and 358 sprint cars, ARCA and the NASCAR Modifieds. Very few drivers at the young age of twenty-five have enjoyed gaining experience in such as vast variety of racing and earning wins in both the dirt modifieds and ARDC Midgets. In fact, Pauch Jr has thirteen wins to his credit.
The Thomas & Engler sprinter will carry their familiar #36 with sponsorship support from Wood Naturally, W&B Mechanical, GME Steering, Awesome Racewear, Atlantic Sprinkler and Penske Racing Shocks.
“URC is pleased to have Billy join our roster and we welcome back car owners Brian Thomas and Bruce Engler”, commented Bob Miller, who is an owner of URC along with John and Cher Zimmerman. “The level of competition continues to rise and Pauch will fit right into the mix to include defending champion Robbie Stillwaggon, Davey Franek, Chad Trout, Keith Prutzman, Dave Ely, Joey Biasi, JJ Grasso, Randy West, Art Liedl, Kevin Darling, Jonathan Swanson and Scott Lutz just to name a few. Let's not overlook the master, Kramer Williamson of Palmyra, PA who will also be returning to run the entire Rislone URC Sprint Series Tour”.
So why choose URC? “I like the ability to race at different tracks”, Pauch continued to say, “ URC also attracts a long list of sponsors, they get a lot of exposure from the media and I like the mix of special events and regular shows on the schedule”. The special events that Pauch is referencing is some of the Challenge events on the schedule. “I think the challenge races are a great idea. I ran 358 sprints at Lincoln last year and earned the Rookie of the Year Award so I’m definitely looking forward to competing against those guys again”, said Pauch.
In 2012, URC transitioned to a double-file restart in their feature events. The decision was met with some opposition, but as the season went on, it was viewed as a positive move. Billy has a view as well stating, “To me, it will make the racing more interesting. I have a lot of experience doing the double-file restarts in modifieds, but have never done it with a sprint car, never-the-less, I am looking forward to it”.
“There will again be some tough competition with URC this year but I look forward to racing with everyone, the harder the competition the better driver it will make you”, stated Pauch. For 2013, Pauch has measured the competition of URC and said, “We have a good team assembled and I think we have a shot at being in the top five in points at the end of the year. Brian and I worked together at the end of 2012 for a couple of races and we really seemed to click, so I think with that being said, we should be able to continue that success into URC”.
The Rislone URC Sprint Series will open at the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, April 26. The weekend of May 10 and May 11, URC will have their first two race weekend, visiting the Bedford Speedway on Friday night, then heading to the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night for the $3,500 to win Jack Gunn Memorial.
