MOTORSPORTS 2013 RACE CAR AND TRADE SHOW OPENS FOR BUSINESS ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 18TH, GOOD WEATHER PREDICTED

OAKS, PA January 17, 2013 . . . . Motorsports 2013, Fueled By Sunoco and Distributed by Insinger Performance, will be open for business at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 18th. Predictions call for good weather conditions. The show offering just about everything imaginable in motorsports will continue until 4 p.m. Sunday, January 20th.
Two time Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup winner Michael Waltrip will be a big part of opening day activities for the 28th annual edition of the Motorsports Race Car and Trade Show set for the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
The veteran racer and Sprint Cup car owner is also a popular TV personality on SPEED and Fox. He will be talking with show attendees and signing autographs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on opening day.
In addition to Waltrip, who will be trying for a spot in the 2013 Daytona 500, show attendees will have the opportunity to meet 1963 Indianapolis 500 winner Parnelli Jones as he makes appearances at the show throughout the day on Saturday, January 19th. He will be talking about his highly acclaimed new book that will be available at the Coastal 181 display.
Rising young NASCAR stars Ty and Austin Dillon will appear on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Austin is the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year and is expected to run in the Daytona 500. Ty earned Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year honors.
A large number of local and regional racing talents will be making appearances at the show during the three days.
Perhaps the most anticipated happening of this Motorsports Show will be the crowning of the ‘Area Auto Racing News Northeast Greatest Driver Of The First 50 Years’ on Friday evening. The title is being announced as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the nationally circulated weekly auto racing tabloid publication.
The winner will be selected from the top ten finalists that include Kenny Brightbill, Will Cagle, the late Richie Evans (now a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame), Brett Hearn, Jimmy Horton, Danny Johnson, Billy Pauch, Fred Rahmer, Frankie Schneider and the late Dick Tobias. The eight surviving finalists will be at the show signing free copies of a poster created by Emerson Friese on Saturday afternoon. A color copy of the poster will be available for purchase and can be autographed by Friese.
Popular traditional events at the show include the BPG Racing Ms Motorsports Pageant (Saturday evening), the Li’l Miss Motorsports competition (Sunday) and the RAACE Foundation Kids Big Wheel races (Sunday). The latter two events are part of ‘Family Day Sunday’ sponsored by Metal Fab Pro Shop.
A huge number of exhibitors will be part of the show with the Sunoco Race Fuels/Insinger Performance Distributor display front and center as attendees enter the show.
More than 200 race vehicles will help fill the 250,000 square of show space that is available in the Expo Center.
Speedways and racing organizations will be on hand and fans will have the opportunity to collect race schedules and start planning the events they will attend during the season. NASCAR, USAC, World Racing Group, Pocono, Grandview, Williams Grove Speedway, Mahoning Valley Speedway, URC and others will have displays. There is a large area set aside for vintage racing organizations.
Several chassis, component and trailer manufacturers will have displays as will The Joie of Seating. Randy LaJoie, a two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, will also take the stage on Saturday afternoon for a one-on-one with fans followed by an autograph session. There will be additional exhibits with fire suits and safety apparel manufacturers, along with wholesalers and retailers such as Behrent’s Speed Center, A1 Performance and Pancho’s Racing Products.
A full schedule of educational seminars, free of charge, will be presented throughout the three days.
Show hours run 2 PM to 10 PM on Friday, January 18th, 11 AM to 9 PM on Saturday, January 19th and 11 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, January 20th. Free parking is available at the Expo Center.
