BIG CROWD, BIG FIELD OF RACERS AND BIG THRILLS FOR THE BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 12, 2012 . . . . The biggest event ever presented at Grandview Speedway is set to get the green flag at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 15th when the $50,000 to win BPG Racing Freedom 76 takes place.
A full series of qualifying events that will feature many of the top dirt track modified racers in action will be presented along with consolation races, a Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 (last chance to make the main event) and the Mertz Flying Mullet Cash Dash featuring the qualifying heat winners and the five guaranteed starters racing for $1,500 to win.
The BPG Racing Freedom 76, 76 laps of racing thrills, will start an estimated 34 cars (the final number depends on the number of entries for the night’s top event).
Guaranteed starters are Danny Johnson and Billy Decker (winners of special qualifying races), Kevin Hirthler (winner of the Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings), Duane Howard (2012 champion and defending champion of the 2011 BPG Racing Freedom 76) and Doug Manmiller ( who gets a spot for finishing second behind Howard in the final points and Howard already had a guaranteed starting spot). These racers will get to run at the back of a qualifying heat and then draw for a starting spot in the Freedom 76.
Racers that have won the BPG Racing Freedom 76 since 1987 are entitled to make an attempt to qualify and if they fall short they will have a starting spot at the rear of the field in the big race.
In addition to a full field of regulars that normally compete at Grandview Speedway there are a variety of talented dirt track modified racing talents planning to try for a spot in the 42nd annual BPG Racing Freedom 76. Included are Stewart Friesen, Jimmy Horton, Rich Ricci, Kevin Hartnett, Ryan Watt, Rick Laubach, Mike McAleer, Matt Sheppard, Alan Johnson, Mike Mahaney, Kenny Brightbill, Bobby Varin, Brett Hearn, Gary Tomkins, Pat Ward, Larry Wight, Billy Pauch Sr. & Jr. , Neal Williams and a surprise entry from Lou Cicconi. Of course entries are accepted on race day so the list will no doubt grow. Entries are accepted at the track on Friday, September 14th from noon until 2 p.m. and then again on race day.
Advance and season ticket holders are admitted, through two gates (main gate and fourth turn gate), at 3 p.m. Ticket windows (more than one) will be open at 3:30 p.m. Pits open at 10 a.m. Adult admission is $40, youngsters 6 through 12 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $50.
Warm-ups start at 5:30 p.m. and racing gets the green at 7 p.m.
There is free parking on the grounds and additional parking in surrounding areas of the speedway. Campers are asked to take a spot in the fourth turn area and across the street from the fourth turn area. The number of campers on the property is increasing each day and most have followed the suggestion on camping in the fourth turn area of the speedway grounds.
There is no roping off of areas or block parking of campers allowed.
Additional security will be in place along with the State Police patrolling the area from time to time.
The event has attracted fans planning to attend from as far away as Arizona.
Grandview Speedway, in the midst of celebrating their 50th anniversary season, is located on Passmore Road (43 Passmore for GPS use), Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown. Race, weather and lodging information can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com or telephone 610.754.7688.
