Steel Block Bandits Invade SSP on Saturday Night, Sept. 1

Outback Track Racing Continues on Friday, August 31;

Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune on September 5

Newberrytown, PA (August 27, 2012) – Racing action returns to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday, September 1 with return of the Steel Block Bandits Late Model Series in the 12^th Annual York County Nationals. Local Late Models stars will take on the traveling series invader for 32 laps chasing the top prize of $1,500. Along with the Late Models, racing will include the Street Stocks (25 laps - $700 to win) and Xtreme Stocks Cars.

The Steel Block Bandits Late Model Series will be 32-laps with 22 cars qualifying for the feature event. The 23^rd starter will be the highest SSP points championship non-qualifier and the 24^th and/or 25^th starters will be provisionals selected by the Steel Block Bandits series. The A-Main will pay $1,500-to-win and $150-to-start. All non-qualifiers will receive $50. There will be a $25.00 entry fee for all Late Model drivers when they draw for heat race starting position at the Steel Block Bandits registration trailer. All qualifying will be through heat races and last chance qualifying races. For more information and rules, visit www.steelblockbandits.com. Every Late Model competitor on September 1 will receive 75 appearance points for the evening towards the SSP track championship rather than finishing points.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the special event on Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $15.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $13.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

On Friday night, August 31, the final race of the 9-race Summer Shoot-Out Series will be held at the SSP Outback Track for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars. The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. There will be no sanctioning body affiliation for either karts or quarter midgets, but the technical/specification rules will be very similar to the major sanctioning groups for these types of cars (W.K.A. and QMA). The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal (Spring/Summer) license. Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee. Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00. Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class regardless of class entry count. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.

Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00. Ages 2 & under are admitted free.

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune for any type of racecar will be on Wednesday, September 5. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Each session will be 4-6 laps per session depending on car count. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 4/6 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller's Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller's Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.

During the season, SSP will also host Wednesday Night Test & Tune Sessions on September 19; October 3; October 17 and October 25 (Thursday). All Wednesday night practices will run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and "cold pit" areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the "Big Track."

- Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent beginning March 1, 2012. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.

The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.

- Madison House XSC Hard Charger Award - For every regular season Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Madison House will present a Hard Charger Award to the driver that improves the most positions from their starting spot in the feature event. The winner will receive $25.00 compliments of Madison House (York) and be eligible for post-season awards for accumulating the most Hard Charger Awards during the season. If two drivers improve the same amount of positions, the tiebreaker will be the driver starting closer to the pole position being awarded the Hard Charger of the race.

- Free Pit Passes for all Non-Qualifiers in 2012 – Any non-qualifier who starts a qualifying heat race and fails to qualify for the feature in the Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars, Legends Cars, Mini Vans and Road Warriors divisions during the regular season point events will receive a complimentary pit pass for the driver for the following week during the regular season from April 14 though September 15. The driver must possess a full annual SSP license in order to be eligible for the complimentary pit pass and pass is not transferable to another driver or to another week beyond the following week.

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2012 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2012. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
