FOUR FEATURE SHOW AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, SEPT, 1

THE CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE CONTINUES AT GRANDVIEW, FOUR FEATURES ON SATURDAY
Collection to be taken for Joe Walsh on Saturday, September 8

BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 29, 2012 . . . The point battles continue at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 1st, with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars in action. In fact fans will get a double dose of Sportsman action with the 25-lap feature that was rained out on August 11th being run on Saturday giving fans two Sportsman features.
Duane Howard, winner of eight feature races this season, has pretty much wrapped up his fourth NASCAR 358 Modified championship as he has a 618 point edge over second place Doug Manmiller going into the 7:30 p.m. Saturday night of racing. However there is still quite a battle going on for the runner up spot between Manmiller, third place Craig VonDohren (without a feature win this season) and nine time champion Jeff Strunk.
In the Late Models Chuck Schutz has a 312 point edge over young challenger Danny Snyder. Ron Kline is 113 points behind Snyder.
And in the new Sportsman division of racing the title chase is still very close between point leader Jared Umbenhauer and Brad Brightbill. Umbenhauer has a 176 point edge. And Craig Whitmoyer is a little less than 300 points behind the leader in third spot.
The battle for the championships could end on Saturday night with some wrapping up titles or in the case of the Late Models and Sportsman the race for the titles could get tighter and the championships not decided until Saturday, September 8th when Champion’s Night will be presented and sponsored by Four Star Lettering and Green Lane Wm. Penn.
Of course there are many battles going on for the important top ten positions with each position higher in the standings meaning more point fund money at the end of the season.
And of course many of the 358 Modified talents are using the last two Saturday night point races as opportunities to get their race cars in prime shape for the big $50,000 to win BPG Racing Freedom 76 coming to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 15.
The NEETS Enduro racers will be in action on Sunday, September 2nd at 1 p.m. with races for the big cars, small cars and ladies. There will be no Blast from the Past Vintage cars in action at this event. Admission is just $7 for adults.
Speedway management has announced that a collection will be taken for Joe Walsh, father of Bobby Gunther Walsh, who was seriously injured in an incident at another track recently. The 80-year-old has serious eye injuries and several broken bones in his face.
The collection, taking place on Saturday, September 8th, will help Mr. Walsh cover the rising medical expenses he faces. Drivers will be going through the pits and the grandstands with their helmets to collect the money.
Those not able to make the race night are invited to send checks, payable to Joe Walsh, to Ernie Saxton Communications, Inc. 1448 Hollywood Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047.
