Racers Preferred Models Signs On For Racer and Fan Giveaways at 2012 BD Motorsports Media Events; June 12 Penn Can $10,000 'Clash at the Can' Kicks Off New Program
BOYERTOWN, PA - Racers Preferred Models (RPM) will make a splash at 2012 BD Motorsports Media events.
Rob Mortier, owner of the company known for its high-quality 1/16th-scale dirt Modified models has teamed with special events promoter Brett Deyo for a program that will reward both racers and fans attending the June 12 'Clash at the Can' and Oct. 12 'King of the Can' at Penn Can (Pa.) Speedway and Short Track SuperNationals at Five Mile Point (N.Y.) Speedway Oct. 6. The trio of high-profile events carry primary sponsorship from VP Racing Fuels and Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc.
"This is something new for me," said Racers Preferred Models founder Rob Mortier. "I was looking at a way to get more involved, give back to the fans and racers, and these events stuck out to me as something we wanted to be a part of. There is a lot of excitement right now."
The total value of items to be awarded during the three events is $2,000!
The 'Clash at the Can' offering a $10,000 winner's share for the 60-lap Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour big-block/small-block Mods is the highest-paying event in Penn Can history on Tuesday, June 12. The total purse of this co-promotion involving Al Wilcox, Reed Miller and Deyo is also the most lucrative since Penn Can was constructed in 1952.
The winner of the 'Clash at the Can' Modified race will take home a 'Starter Package' to include a complete Racers Preferred Model design of the winning car, three copies of the 1/16th-scale model shipped to the race team's door - a $299 value.
Additionally, all other competitors will be entered into a random draw with one lucky driver receiving the same 'Starter Package' from Racers Preferred Models.
At the Friday, Oct. 12 'King of the Can' 50-lap, $5,000-to-win big-block/small-block Modified event, the third-place finisher in the main event will earn the 'Starter Package' worth $299.
For the fifth anniversary Short Track SuperNationals Saturday, Oct. 6 at Five Mile Point (50 laps, $5,000 to win and $455 to start for the Modifieds), the event winner and another randomly selected driver will receive the 'Starter Package' and its $299 value.
The fans have not been forgotten, either! At each event, three model cars ($60 value each) will be given away as prizes through a drawing of general admission tickets.
"These models are ideal sponsor gifts for race teams and collector's items for fans," said Deyo. "The giveaways certainly bring added value to our events."
Racers Preferred Models is on the web at www.racerspreferredmodels.com. The company has produced more than 600 different dirt Modified model cars that have raced the ovals of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Canada.
BD Motorsports Media was the leader in special events dirt Modified promotion in 2011, boasting the largest single-day Modified car count of any track or sanction (Five Mile Point SuperNationals Oct. 8 - 79 cars) and largest midweek event car count of any track or sanction (Penn Can 'Clash at the Can' June 7 - 66 cars).
