Make Bridgeport Speedway Your Memorial Day Weekend Destination: Poker Series Hand No. 2 Set For Sunday, May 27; 40-lap Event to Offer Full Race of Champions Purse - $4,000 to win, $300 to start

BRIDGEPORT, NJ - Race fans, make Bridgeport Speedway your Memorial Day weekend destination.
The popular and innovative 'Poker Series' takes center stage at the Logan Township five-eighths-mile on Sunday, May 27. The big-block Modifieds will run a more economical 40-lap distance for $4,000 to win and $300 to take the green flag. While the event is unsanctioned, a complete Race of Champions purse will be paid. The shorter distance and hefty purse should make the event more attractive for race teams.
The first hand of the 'Poker Series' was held on March 31 with Ryan Godown of Ringoes, N.J., driving the Rick Clay No. 88c to a $4,000-plus victory. Godown came from deep in the field to snatch the lead late in the event. A talented Modified field of Bridgeport regulars and invaders should fill the pits for the holiday weekend special.
Colonial Pipeline has signed on to sponsor the "811 Awareness" program, which will include the season's first appearance of the TSRS 305 Sprint Cars and points-paying races for the Crate Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks. Big-block Modifieds will receive show-up points for the event, ranging from 55 to the winner down to 50 for those failing to qualify. RoC rules are in effect.
"We want to make this event a holiday weekend destination," Bridgeport Speedway promoter Doug Hoffman said, noting that camping on speedway grounds will be encouraged and a post-race party will be held under the pavilion behind the grandstands. A live band will perform once racing is complete.
Additionally, Bridgeport will serve as a WXTU 92.5 "Ticket Stop" for the 28th anniversary show at thw Susquehanna Bank Center on June 2. WXTU staff will be on site from 6-7 p.m.
There will be no racing at Bridgeport on Saturday, May 26 in advance of the 'Poker Series' event.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing set to begin at 7 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $25 for Adults and $23 for Seniors (65 and over) and Students (with ID). Kids 12 and under are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $30 for Bridgeport members and $35 for non-members.
Custom 'Poker Series' apparel produced by Bob Hilbert Sportswear (Boyertown, Pa.) will be on sale. The apparel sold out on March 31 and a second order is being readied for Memorial Day.
The remaining Modified 'Poker Series' dates are Wed., July 4, Mon., Sept. 3 and Sat., Nov. 10. At each 'Poker Series' event, the winner receives an Ace (A), second a King (K), third a Queen (Q) and so on down to the 13th-place finisher receiving a Deuce (2). Following the completion of the five-race series, the driver with the best poker hand receives $2,500, second $1,500 and third $1,000. The driver with the worst hand receives $1,000. Drivers must participate in all five events to be eligible for a points fund.
