410 SPRINTS HEADING TO THE HILL. . . . .
23RD NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES TO OPEN AT GRANDVIEW WEDNESSDAY, MAY 23
The high powered 410 sprints will invade the Grandview Speedway for the 2012 season opener of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series on Wednesday night, May 23rd. The Thunder Series will again be part of the 410 Sprint Keystone Cup Sprint Series with the 35 lap feature event paying an attractive $5,000. If you have never seen the 410 sprints "on the hill" at Grandview, you need to catch this event. The 410 sprints circle the high banked oval in 11.6 seconds and with twenty-four cars on the track, it always gets real exciting. The 410 sprints will compete in a time trials, and a series of qualifying events all leading up to the 35 lap feature. Sharing the program with the 410 sprints will be the always exciting 358 Modifieds, racing in qualifying events and a 25 lap feature paying $2,500 to win.
Brian Leppo of Spring Grove, PA is the defending winner of the Keystone Cup event at Grandview. Leppo held off a fast and furious Fred Rahmer on the final lap, earning his first every Thunder Victory by less then a car length. Leppo is expected to defend his victory and to be challenged by Fred Rahmer, Daryn Pitman, Brian Montieth, Cody Darrah, Alan Krimes, Brent Marks and others.
In the 358 Modifieds, entries expected include Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren, Doug Manmiller and Brad Missimer.
In 2012, Grandview Speedway celebrates their 50th Anniversary Season and the staff of Thunder on the Hill salutes the Rogers Family for their successes over the years to reach this milestone.
The May 23rd Keystone Cup Sprint Series event at Grandview will mark the 103rd Thunder on the Hill race in the twenty-three year history of the Thunder Series. On race night, May 23rd, gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.
