RoC Dirt Tours Continue Busy March With Visit To New Egypt Speedway

For Immediate Release

Re: RoC Mods To New Egypt

RoC Dirt Tours Continue Busy March With Visit To New Egypt Speedway This Saturday.

Three Way Tie Leads Modified Point Race In To Saturday Combination Race - Cabin Fever 60.

BINGHAMTON, NYThe 2012 Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour started off in fine fashion last Friday and Saturday at the Selinsgrove Speedway in Pennsylvania for the Icebreaker V Weekend. Duane Howard and Billy Pauch recorded wins over the weekend which vaulted them into a three way tie with Jimmy Phelps for the current point lead entering this Saturday’s Cabin Fever 60 at the New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey.

The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour awards 5 bonus points for each heat win throughout the tour season. Both Howard and Pauch recorded heat wins over this past weekend and Jimmy Phelps actually recorded two heat wins to add ten points to his tally and put himself into a third place tie for the lead.

After his Big Block Modified win this past Saturday, Billy Pauch has to be feeling confident entering this Saturday’s race at New Egypt Speedway, his weekly home track. Last year Pauch dominated the weekly competition at the popular oval enroute to capturing the 2012 Modified Track Title. He also took advantage of his 11 American Racer Cup Feature wins at the speedway to win the $10,000 overall Cup title last season as well. Should a driver win both the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour Title and the overall American Racer Cup Championship a $20,000 bonus will be paid.

This Saturday New Egypt Speedway will see a huge double header of Race of Champions Dirt action as both the Modified and Sportsman Tours will be in action. The Sportsman teams will be competing in their first event of 2012 on the tour. Two-time defending RoC Sportsman Champion Jeff Crambo is hoping for a quick start this weekend in trying to win his third straight title.

Last year Jeff Strunk was the RoC Modified race winner at New Egypt Speedway for the Cabin Fever 60. The victory earned the Norm Hansell owned team $10,000. Strunk currently sits in fourth place in the point standings. A star studded field of the top Modified drivers in the entire northeast are expected to be on hand for what will certainly be a must see event.

Defending RoC Dirt Modified Tour Champion Billy Decker is already entered along with a host of others that include Tim McCreadie, the 2010 RoC Victoria 200 Winner at the Utica Rome Speedway, Danny Johnson, Pat Ward, Ryan Godown, Duane Howard, Rick Laubach, Larry Wight, Wade Hendrickson, Ryan Watt and defending race winner Jeff Strunk.

This Saturday is just a part of a very busy month of March for the Roc Dirt Teams. Next Saturday, March 31st will see the first ever RoC Modified Tour race at the Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey. The very next day – Sunday, April 1st the Sportsman will be in action at Five Mile Point Speedway (NY) along with the opening event for the RoC Street Stock teams.

Pit gates open at 10 a.m. this Saturday at New Egypt Speedway. Grandstand gates open at 2 p.m. with practice set to start at 3 p.m. Racing is set to get underway at 4 p.m. To contact the New Egypt Speedway offices directly please phone 609-758-1900 or visit their website at www.newegyptspeedway.net.
