5th ANNUAL NAPA AUTO PARTS DIRT TRACK HEROES SHOW SAPRKELS WITH RACING LEGENDS FRIDAY NIGHT, SATURDAY MARKS FINAL DAY OF THE WEEKLONG SHOW
The sixth day of the week long 5th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Dirt Track Heroes Show sparkled with a rousing two show day on Friday as the events team added a spectacular touch to the show with the Legends Showcase portion that kicked off the festivities. The Corey Mechanical sponsored show edition had legendary racing giants Bill Wimble and Freddy Adam anchoring a solid panel of equally as gifted racing stars and the well noted broadcasting team of Ed and Steve Pados ignited the well attended event as they launched into a two hour chat session with the star-studded group of talent with each of the drivers sharing both amusing and serious stories and talking about their exciting racing days when they rode the crest of one victory after another that highlighted their racing careers and made them into the legends of the sport we very much respect today.
Bill Wimble, the 1960-1961 NASCAR Sportsman Champion, was kept busy throughout the session as he signed his "I'll Never Be Last Again" book about his incredible journey through life from farming to racing and later on into a very successful business career and Freddy Adam, the highly recognizable "Kutztown Komet" was busy as well signing his book "The Life and Times of the Kutztown Komet". Joining in the for the first show that ran until 6:30 were racing legends, Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn, "The Everett Express" Gerald Chamberlain, "The Rocket" Ronnie Dunstan, Red Coffin, Tommy Hager, Kenny Wismer Jr, Bruce Young and Earl Derr as the great racing stories rolled off the tongues of the mighty legendary drivers that created them. The Pados Brothers kicked off the show with show organizer Bob Miller and quickly had the audience involved as the crowd of racing fans asked many questions to the showcase of stars and the answers brought rounds of laughter to the Mall as each driver gave his own spin to the many questions provided to them by their adoring fans. The opportunity for the fans to play a role in the show added to what has already been another great show for everyone involved.
The second set of interviews kicked off at 7 PM as the Pados Brothers, Borgers Speedway announcer/starter Bobby Stull and Bridgeport Speedway announcer Jeff Ahlum conducted interviews utilizing the same format as they did with the initial show and sponsored by Martocci Automotive and CRSA driving star Tommy Martocci. Heading up the star studded open wheel contingent of stars included legendary ARDC drivers and owners Jimmy Maguire, Ken Brenn Sr, Bill Brown, Tommy Cochrane and Ron Lauer, Modified greats Bill Wimble and George Wambold, Spike Chassis co-owner Bob Trafford, URC sprint star Jonathan Swanson, Grandview Late Model Star Kory Fleming and TSRS Sprint stars Keith McIntyre and Jeff Mueller. As the interviews wound down, the trivia portion of the show took over as many questions were asked and a great array of gifts courtesy of Bob Trafford and Spike Chassis were awarded to the very knowledgeable crowd of prize winners
The final day of the show will continue into Saturday, March 10th and the Saturday stage show will be sponsored by Corey Mechanical, who service the Tri-County area with expert heating and cooling sales and service. Headlining the final day of the show will be the driving stars from all of the divisions of racing that once graced the great Flemington Fair Speedway. The winning selections of the ongoing week long coloring contest from NAPA Auto Parts will be chosen today. DARE 2B BAD Trike Star Sonny Croughn will be on hand today singing autographs and answering questions regarding his one of a kind racing creation as Sonny celebrates fifty years in the racing and show industry.
