PAUL LOTIER BUILDS, ENTERS RADICAL TQ MIDGET FOR AC INDOOR RACES; ALSO FIRST ENTRY FOR PROVIDENCE, RI INDOOR RACE
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (December 30, 2011) - Paul Lotier Jr. is an accomplished Indoor Three Quarter Midget driver. At this year’s upcoming Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall Indoor Races, he hopes to become equally respected as a car builder.
The 10th edition of the event under the direction of Len Sammons and staff is planned for Friday and Saturday nights Feb. 3-4, 2012.
Four classes of race cars, blindingly fast TQ (three quarter) Midgets, unpredictable dirt 600cc Micro-Sprints, hard-to-handle Slingshots and agile Champ Karts will be in competition.
Lotier, 26, of Lebanon, Pa., is taking a non-traditional route to Atlantic City. In an age when most TQ midget cars are either mass produced or were built more than a decade ago, Lotier has constructed his TQ himself, from the ground up.
“The car is going to be different,” warns Lotier. “There isn’t going to be anything quite like it out there.”
Lotier started with “a clean sheet of paper” designing the car that will incorporate a radical off-set and a refined independent suspension.
Lotier is among nearly 70 TQ drivers already entered in the Indoor Race. Forty-five Champ kart teams, close to two dozen dirt 600cc Micro Sprint cars and drivers, and 20 Slingshots are pre-entered to date.
That number is expected to grow steadily with four weeks remaining prior to race time. As many as 200 teams are expected to be vying for starting berths in the four feature races.
Building race cars isn’t exactly a stretch for Lotier. He works closely with his brother-in-law Richard Tobias designing, building, developing and promoting Slingshot cars.
In fact, Lotier will personally oversee the progress in the Boardwalk Hall Slingshot events of three cars, to be driven by Matt Carman, Brett Bieber and Shawna Ingraham.
Lotier will use the number 7 on his TQ Midget, the number his father (Paul Sr.) used extensively during his small-block Modified and 410 Sprint car career. His dad has been an integral part of the project design.
Racers wishing to enter any of the divisions competing in Atlantic City may find entry and rule information available at aarn.com.
Tickets for the Atlantic City event are on sale now at Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.com and at the Boardwalk Hall box office. Ticket prices remain the same as the past event. Premium seats sell out quickly.
Further information can also be obtained by calling the show office (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 609-888-3618.
Lotier is also the first driver to file an official entry for “The Coffee Cup”, the indoor race scheduled for Providence, R.I. on March 10-11, 2012 at Dunkin Donuts Center.
Racers wishing to join Lotier in the TQ Midget action at Dunkin Donuts Center may find entry and rule information available at aarn.com.
