Newberrytown, PA (September 23, 2011) – The two-day 6th Annual Susquehanna Showdown at the Susquehanna Speedway Park has been postponed due to rain on Friday, September 23 until Saturday, September 24 & 25. Two other popular events for the Susquehanna Showdown this year include a Late Model Cash Dash and Tire Changing Contest. The Cash Dash presented by Hammaker’s Racing Engines in Grantville will consist of the 1st and 2nd place finishers from each Late Model heat with the finishing order determining the stating spots for the 50-lap Susquehanna Showdown. The Late Model Tire Changing Contest presented by Miller’s Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg will be held Satuday night with the preliminary round at the end of the night and the finals will be held at the start of Sunday night’s program with the top three teams being awarded prizes for their efforts.

On Saturday night, gates will open for both the pit area at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstands at 5:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:00 p.m. General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $10.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $8.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Last year’s Susquehanna Showdown had Dover’s Gene Knaub winning his first Susquehanna Showdown. It almost became very memorable as Knaub chose ½ of the winning combination for the $25,000 bonus, but his car owner Donnie Broderick could not come up with the other winning envelope to win the money. Former Late Model winners of the Susquehanna Showdown include Scott Richwine (2006), Tyler Hershey (2007), Ashley Barrett (2008) and Jason Miller (2009).

An entry fee is required all classes competing at the Showdown. Entry forms may be downloaded from ww.sspracing.net. or picked up at Miller’s Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg, PA. Rules and specifications may also be found online at www.sspracing.net or by contacting Larry Miller at 717-574-7107.

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, October 19. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
