The Season Is Winding Down, But Big Diamond Speedway Intensity Heating Up For Remainder of 2011 Season - Mark Your Calendars For Special Events!


MINERSVILLE, PA - The 2011 season at Big Diamond Speedway may be winding down, but the intensity is heating up on the track at the Schuylkill County clay oval with a number of special promotions.

Next Friday (Aug. 19), Coca-Cola presents the 'Coca-Cola Challenge' for the top 11 drivers in The Station House 358-Modified standings entering the night. The one-on-one match races with the speedway's leading small-block Modified drivers are a fan-favorite event. A full program of 358-Modifieds (qualifying and 25-lap feature), U.S.S. Achey Sportsman (qualifying and 20-lap feature) and Wooden Keg Tavern Roadrunners (qualifying and 20-lap feature) will complete the evening's activities. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7:55 p.m. and racing at 8:15 p.m.

Enduro racing for Big Cars, Small Cars & Ladies is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. Enduro information and registration forms are posted on the Big Diamond website: www.bigdiamondspeedway.net.

Point championships for 2011 are decided on Friday, Aug. 26, which is the rescheduled Minersville NAPA Auto Parts event with a 25-lap, $1,000-to-win Coalcracker 50 Qualifier for the Sportsman plus 358-Modifieds (qualifying and 25-lap feature) and Roadrunners (qualifying and 20-lap feature). The title fights in each of Diamond's weekly divisions are expected to come down to the wire!


The annual marquee event at Big Diamond is the Labor Day weekend Coalcracker event. On Friday night (Sept. 2), the Sportsman take part in the 7th annual Coalcracker 50, plus the 358-Modified Non-Winner's event and the third appearance of the season by Doug Borger's touring XCel 600 Modifieds. Race time is 8:15 p.m.


On Sunday (Sept. 4), the 358-Modifieds take center stage with the 31st edition of the Coalcracker 100 paying $10,000 to the winner. Duane Howard of Oley, Pa., is the defending Coalcraker 100 winner. Many of the sport's leading names have triumphed in this prestigious event over its long history. The Roadrunners join the 358-Modifieds on Sunday's program in a 25-lap event. Race time for the Sunday portion of the Coalcracker weekend is 7 p.m.


The final on-track activity at Big Diamond this season will be the first Enduro Nationals, 139 laps paying $2,000 to the winner on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. Pre-registration will be $100/per car (if 50 cars do not register it will revert to a regular Enduro and Big Diamond management will refund half the registration cost). All cars are welcome with home track rules applying.


All cars must have a four-point cage with three door bars on driver's side, DOT street tires only (no studded tires), a fire extinguisher, fire suit and dirt-track racing approved helmet, racing seat, approved racing belts, no bars extending further forward than the upper control arm and stock OEM engine parts.
