Wix Filters “100 Nights of Racing” and Annual Bike/Toy Giveaway at SSP on Saturday, August 6

Enzo, the Kline’s Enzyme also Scheduled to Visit

Newberrytown, PA (August 3, 2011) – This Saturday night, August 6 will be the annual Picnic in the Pits featuring Wix Filters “100 Nights of Racing” and Bike/Toy Giveaway at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Racing action next Saturday night will include the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors and Women on Wheels Mini Vans.

The Picnic in the Pits is an annual event established a few years ago in which the outer pit areas will open to anyone with a grandstand ticket from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. (infield pit areas will be closed to grandstand ticket holders). Any competitor pitted in the infield will be able to bring their cars to the front of the speedway or the outer pit areas from 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. (they will still pit in the infield during the racing events). All competitors that evening may enter the pits and set up their cars in an informal meet & greet with their friends, family and fans at 4:30 p.m. Some drivers will have even had games and goodies for the kids. The Bike & Toy Giveaway has also been successful in the past where teams have brought a bike, toy, gift basket/bag or gift certificates for children who attend the races that evening. Tickets are chosen at random from the children’s (ages 10 & under) general admission tickets on August 6. Prizes donated by the teams will be accepted from 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at the Diver’s Sign in Booth.

Wix Filters will have door prizes for fans as well as a special prize package for each feature winner that includes a certificate redeemable for a case of Wix Filiters.

Enzo, the Kline’s enzyme (mascot for Kline’s Services) will also be at the event to entertain the children, handing out Enzo stickers, Enzo temporary tattoos and Enzo magnets to the children.

On Saturday night, racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:40 p.m. followed by qualifying heat races, consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free.

Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.

The popular "Repeat Fan Discount" program continues at SSP in 2011 for the eighth straight season. This is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week's events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

The SSP Outback Track will be back in action on Friday night, August 5. Racing on the 1/9 mile track includes Quarter Midgets, Karts, Adult Speedcars and lawnmowers. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Last Saturday night, July 30 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park, 2011 Late Model point leader Justin Ehrhart of Dover claimed the spotlight for himself this week by winning his fourth win of the year. In victory lane, Ehrhart successfully did his patented backflip off of his racecar. In Street Stock racing action, Hanover’s Dan Zechman picked up win number seven in the Street Stock division. Lancaster’s Donnie Broderick continues to dominate in the Xtreme Stock Car class by winning his fourth consecutive feature of the season. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe won the 10-lap Mini Van feature for the fourth consecutive time this season. Reed Salony of Seven Valleys was victorious in the 20-lap Sidewinder Sprint Car feature event.

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on August 17

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.

Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

All pit passes and car entries from the cancelled August 3 Test & Tune may be used for the remainder of the 2011 season at any Test & Tune. Pit passes from August 3 must be presented for exchange.

• SSP Outback Track Summer Shoot-Out Season Awards Presentation at the Big track on Saturday night, September 17, 2011

- Track Rental for the "Big Track" and the "Outback Track" - The "Big track" and the "Outback track" are available for rent. The "Big Track" rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the "Big Track", an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.

The rental price for the "Outback Track" is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.
