Newberrytown, PA (July 19, 2011) – This Saturday night, July 23 will be the annual visit of Santa Claus with “Christmas in July” at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. There will also be a summertime snowball fight on the frontstretch so all kids who want to participate should remember to bring towels. Racing action next Saturday night will include the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors and Classic Cars.
The Hometown Heroes program on Saturday, July 23 will recognize all SSP drivers from Halifax, Jonestown and Mt. Penn. Before the racing action begins, the drivers from these towns will have the opportunity to display their cars and meet the fans at the front gate of the speedway. The drivers will also be interviewed during the night's racing program. Also, all fans entering the speedway from that driver's hometown being honored will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling out an information card at the ticket booth.
On Saturday night, racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:40 p.m. followed by qualifying heat races, consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free.
Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
The popular "Repeat Fan Discount" program continues at SSP in 2011 for the eighth straight season. This is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week's events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
The SSP Outback Track will be back in action on Friday night, July 22. Racing on the 1/9 mile track includes Quarter Midgets, Karts, Adult Speedcars and lawnmowers. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.
At the last race on Saturday night, July 16, racing action returned to the Susquehanna Speedway Park with Dover’s Larry Baer returning to victory lane for the second time this season by winning the 25-lap Late Model feature. In Street Stock racing action, Chambersburg’s Doug Bennett claimed his fourth feature event of the season in the 20-lapper. Lancaster’s Donnie Broderick picked up his second consecutive win in the Xtreme Stock Car class. Brian Lefebvre of Etters won the 15-lap Road Warrior feature. Harlon Leppo of Seven Valleys won the 15-lap Legends Cars feature event.

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on July 20
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. - Track Rental for the "Big Track" and the "Outback Track" - The "Big track" and the "Outback track" are available for rent. The "Big Track" rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the "Big Track", an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.
The rental price for the "Outback Track" is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.
