Big Weekend of Racing This Week at SSP featuring All Types of Racecars
Wednesday Night Test & Tune on June 29
Newberrytown, PA (June 28, 2011) – Wednesday begins big week of racing at the Susquehanna Speedway Park with its bi-weekly Test & Tune. On Thursday night, June 30, the Eichelberger’s U-Pull-It Super Show VI will feature the 600cc Micro Spring Speedweek along with the PA Sprint Series and Classic Cars. Racing action moves to the Outback Track on Friday night, July 1, with racing action featuring the quarter midgets, karts, Adult Speedcars and lawnmowers. Then on Saturday night, July 2, racing action then returns again to the Big Track at SSP with the 6th Annual Summer Fun Championships featuring the Late Models (30 laps), Street Stocks (25 laps), Xtreme Stock Cars (Twin 15s), PENNMAR Vintage Cars and Road Warriors.
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
An exciting weekend of racing action begins this Thursday night, July 1, with the Eichelberger’s U-Pull-It Super Show VI featuring the 5th annual 600cc Micro Spring Speedweek race presented by Nouse Signs & Graphics along with the second appearance of the season of the PA Sprint Series as well as the Classic Cars. The 600cc Micro Spring feature event will pay $2,000-to-win. On Thursday night, racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track preparation laps begin at 6:35 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $22.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
The second race of the Summer Shoot-Out Series at the SSP Outback Track will be on Friday night, July 1. Racing on the 1/9 mile track includes Quarter Midgets, Karts, Adult Speedcars and lawnmowers. The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with open practice beginning at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. There will be no sanctioning body affiliation for either karts or quarter midgets, but the technical/specification rules will be very similar to the major sanctioning groups for these types of cars (W.K.A. and QMA). The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for driver’s with an annual license. Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee. Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00. Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.
Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00. Ages 2 & under are admitted free.
Racing action then returns again to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday night, July 2 with the 6th Annual Summer Fun Championships featuring the Late Models (30 laps) paying $1,000-to-win, Street Stocks (25 laps) paying $600-to-win, Xtreme Stock Cars (Twin 15’s – two regular purses each paying $300-to-win), Road Warriors and the PENNMAR Vintage Cars. On Saturday night, racing action now begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track preparation laps for the Late Models and Street Stocks begin at 6:40 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
The Late Models and Street Stocks will be lined up according to “Heads Up” Handicapping based on the season point average for the entire 2011 season to-date. The Xtreme Stock Cars will use the traditional three week average for the first 15 lap feature and all drivers on the lead lap of the first feature will be inverted to determine the lineup for the second feature event.

The popular "Repeat Fan Discount" program will continue at SSP in 2011 for the seventh straight season. This is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week's events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
Last Saturday night, June 25, Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. returned to victory lane for the second time this season by winning the 25-lap Late Model feature at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. In Street Stock racing action, Dan Zechman of Hanover came from a 15th place starting spot to win his fifth feature event of the season. Dover’s J.R. Rodriguiz won his first career Xtreme Stock Car feature event. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe continues to dominate the Mini Van division by winning his third of the season. Matt Wallace of Mt. Airy, MD wont he Classic Car 15-lap feature event. Kid’s Box Car races also highlighted the fun evening for everyone.

A registration form will appear, fill out the appropriate information and hit enter to submit. A cell phone text message will be received momentarily, offering a validation code that needs to be typed in to complete the registration.
- Track Rental for the "Big Track" and the "Outback Track" - The "Big track" and the "Outback track" are available for rent. The "Big Track" rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the "Big Track", an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.
The rental price for the "Outback Track" is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.
