Big Diamond Speedway Hosts First Friday Program April 29; Community Night/Reduced General Admission For Residents of Minersville, Pottsville, Llewellyn & Branchdale
MINERSVILLE, PA - Big Diamond Speedway hosts its first Friday-night program of the 2011 season on April 29 and local residents will be rewarded with discounted grandstand admission.
The first Community Night of the season takes place Friday for a three-division show of The Station House 358-Modifieds (qualifying and 25-lap feature), U.S.S. Achey Sportsman (qualifying and 20-lap feature) and Wooden Keg Tavern Roadrunners (qualifying and 20-lap feature).  Residents of Minersville, Pottsville, Llewellyn and Branchdale will receive discounted admission - $10 with proof of residence - as Big Diamond Speedway management encourages local fans to take in the excitement of racing in 'God's Country.'
Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7:55 p.m. and the first heat at 8:15 p.m. All Friday shows feature an 8:15 p.m. start time this year.  Grandstand admission is $13 (Adults), $10 (Seniors & Military), $5 (Kids 6-12) and FREE for those five years of age and under. Pit admission for members is $25 and $35 for non-members.
The local police chief from Cass Township will host a meeting for Big D hauler drivers at 7 p.m. Please make plans to attend.
Competitors should take note that ALL drivers must have a Big Diamond Speedway pit license beginning this Friday.  The license is $75 and the application can be found on the speedway website: www.bigdiamondspeedway.net. Pit crew members are not required to have a membership and can pay non-member price. Also, BGP track tires will be required beginning April 29.
Rick Laubach of Quakertown, Pa., opened the 39th Big D season with a $3,000 victory in the April 17 35-lap feature over 17th-starter Jeff Strunk, veteran Ray Swinehart, three-time champion Keith Hoffman and all-time leading winner Craig Von Dohren. Laubach and the first-year Gary and Lori Herrmann/Beer City No. 7 team jump into the early point lead as a result. Nazareth, Pa., resident Mike Mammana, a 2010 championship contender, won the 20-lap U.S.S. Achey Sportsman lid-lifter and Ricky Bender of Joliett, Pa., topped a wild 20-lap Wooden Keg Tavern Roadrunner 20-lap feature.
On May 6, the second Community Night offers $10 admission for residents of Vally View, Hegins, Fountain and Klingerstown with the three weekly divisions on the card.
The Station House 358-Modifieds take part in their second extra-distance event of the '11 season on Friday, May 13 with the 'Freaky Friday' special offering a $3,000 top prize for 35 laps of racing.
A highlight event at Big D this season is set for Wednesday, June 22 with the 'Anthracite Assault' Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour invades Coal Country for the first time since 2006 in a BD Motorsports Media/Race of Champions Motorsports production. The big-block/small-block Modifieds run 60 laps with a minimum $4,000 posted to the winner in addition to $500 for the highest-finishing small-block. For further information, visit www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com or www.rocdirt.com.
Transponders are mandatory for all 2011 events (all divisions, including Sunday Enduro events) at the speedway. Transponders can be purchased online at MyLaps.com (AMB). They can also be found on eBay and can be purchased from other competitors. Big Diamond will have only five transponders available for rental at the track for each race event. All race teams should own a transponder.
VIP rooms are available for small groups to rent at an affordable rate in 2011. The VIP rooms are ideal to host parties, work/employee outings, or simply to enjoy a night of dirt-track stock car racing with friends. Three VIP rooms are available for rent at the speedway - all climate-controlled with heating and air conditioning and out of the elements. The VIP rooms provide the "best seats in the house" overlooking the action on the speedway.

VIP room rental cost is $350 per night (there could be a price increase for special events). Rentals include eight general admission passes, beverages, snacks, eight hot dogs and eight hamburgers.  Guests are permitted to bring alcohol into VIP rooms. Guest maximum capacity is recommended at 10, but larger parties can be accommodated.  A $50 charge could be assessed if extensive cleanup is required. To book a VIP room, contact Jake Smulley at 570.527.3168 or Jasmine Morgan-Smulley at mhtml:{E616BBF2-BCB7-4C31-AE7B-8124AAEE58B3}mid://00000088/!x-usc:mailto:jasminemorgansmulley@live.com or 570.294.8712.
